I never set any "goals" in my card collecting life, but do keep pretty good records of my WLs and all of you online folks who have helped me since avidly restarting this hobby in 2004. I've had many set backs and tragedies in my life as well as many more successes, joys and good times. Being a father and provider for my 3 successful daughters rates as my greatest accomplishment. I added a great son-in law family last fall to my always growing extended family. My oldest and her husband announced a new addition coming up this year! Their first and my first grand kid! Anyway after much hesitation, I added 62,61 & 1960 topps baseball to my site. I have a few extras from 61-62, but +50, cards < #450 from 1960 (picked up a nice starter recently). I am hoping that some of you are starting these also and would send me you WL... or check out my extensive have lists that are pretty big from 1970-1980... and beyond! Thanks for the read and for great card help OBC has given me since my OBC Membership 04/23/2016. Have a great year OBC family! Rob=E2=99s extensive list reminds me of all the hard-to-find sets that are out there, and how difficult it can be to just pick up one card of them. (correct, Mike Rich?) I started a type card collection in the early 1980s. I did pretty well, for a little while, and then progress slowed to a trickle. If I found a type card candidate, I would try to pick up two or three in order to trade, but most of those have gone elsewhere by now. When the =E280s issues exploded, I gave up. La Pizza Royale is a set on Rob=E2=99s list. Collectors in the late 1960s started to augment the only-game-in-town Topps sets with something else. This unlicensed set was made up by the late collector Bob Solon. I visited Bob in his basement in Oak Park, Illinois, and he gave me a LaPizza Royale card. Solon cooked up the name of non-existent companies for these sets =E2=93 sort of like Tom Housely=E2=99s OBC member photo cards. Solon had800 LaPizza Royale sets printed and they were printed in four different colors. Solon=E2=99s first collector set was Fud=E2=99s Photography (also on Rob=E2=99s list) and he only printed 200 sets. The article I wrote about Solon is on our library page. Some of these types will be very hard to find, but not expensive and shouldkeep you busy looking for them. Peter Mead Lot 1--1961 Topps #561 Charlie James--a nosebleeder for sure. Actually not too bad a card--with only a couple of creases for character. James is bestknown in the collecting world for his short print 1963 Jello card (well maybe). Lot 2--1949 Bowman #210 Joe "Flash" Gordon--and you think 1961 or 1967 highnumbers are tough--try chasing the 1949 Bowman nose bleeders. Gordon was a Hall of Fame second baseman for the Indians and Yankees. No paper loss and only a few creases on this beauty. Lot 3--1960 Topps #1 Early Wynn--the first card was Topps only horizontal set of the 1960s. Early had turned 40-years old before the 1960 season as he continued his pursuit of 300 wins. Some creases and beat up corners--butit is all there. Lot 4--1962 Post football #153 Bill Koman--one of the many short prints from the only Post NFL set. This one appears Okay--for being cut off the backof a cereal box by a kid. Always loved the "posed" pictures from this set. Lot 5--1971 Topps #180--a slightly miscut card of Tiger legend Al Kaline. Maybe an upgrade for a number of you. In 1955, at the age of 20, Kaline hit.340 becoming the youngest batting champion of all time. Lot 6--1974 McDonald's Padres Discs Dave Winfield--an alternative rookie "card" of this Hall of Famer. Winfield was the mid-1970s Aaron Judge--he just didn't hit as many homers, but at 6'6" and 220 lbs. he hit the ball as hard as anyone I ever saw in person. Admit it--how many of you need a card from this set for your type card list? Lot 7--1948 Signal Gas Earl Jones--a newcomer to the Oakland Oaks that year. A couple of creases, weak corners and the letters HW inscribed on the reverse of the card are the only defects. A great short set from the PacificCoast league. Earl was a graduate of Roosevelt High in Fresno. Lot 8--Topps 1966 #584--Yankees rookie card of Frank Fernandez and wife swapper Fritz Peterson. It was big news when Mike Kekich and Fritz decided toswap wives; now days it would probably only make the Enquirer. In any case, another high number for this Wauction--a solid G/VG. Lot 9 1954-56 Spic and Span postcard of Ray Crone--one of four or five different sets produced after the Braves moved to Milwaukee from a local dry cleaning chain. It appears this card was almost folded in half at some point in its history. Who needs a type card? Lot 10--1954 Topps #7 Ted Kluszewski--this card is much nicer than you average OBC 1954 card. Ted is probably a solid VG/EX with only a couple weak corners. Big Klu hit 40 HRs for the 1953 Reds. (consigned by Bill Ashton) Lot 11--1955 Topps #120 Ted Kluszewski--continuing the theme from the priorlot--consigned by Bill Ashton and this one grades a solid EX if not better(but what do I know about grades like that). Maybe one weak corner and with some gloss. In 1954--Klu banged 49 HRs and knocked in 141 runs finishing 2nd in MVP vote to the Say Hey Kid.
