Of course almost all of these cards (at least in the Topps sets) are high numbers (or 1957 mid- series) and/or stars, I'm not expecting many hits, but a guy can dream, right? These aren't my only needs, but as is my habit when posting on this server I don't want to list all sets I need cards from & get everyone all glassy-eyed; you can do that on my vintage page anytime. Hey there. I haven't posted one of these wantlist things in a couple of years now. After a card collecting hiatus of a couple years, recently I've been going through and getting my collection back into shape. I'm in the process of recreating my wantlists and updating them. I was shocked to see that I've still got some holes in sets that I had marked as completed on mywantlists.

I know at some point before I went on hiatus my dupes box and my "cards I need to file away in my binders" box got mixed. I suspectthat is what happened with these sets. Anyway, I've rounded up all the cards that were laying around loose and sorted them. After finding a lot of hits from my own dupes box, this is what I need to complete the sets I already finished.

As I mentioned yesterday I picked up a box of cards from OBC friendly dealer Mike Sandles that he put together for me after we spoke last week at the Royal Oak Elks Club card show. The box had plenty of “well loved” specimens from `52 - `78 with many commons but a number of Stars, HOF’ers, HI numbers and the like. I really didn’t expect Mike to put the box together so quickly so I was taken by surprise a bit and with the National coming up I spent more than I would have liked to. So I made a decision to offer to the group some of these great finds. Now I must say, that this is the first time that I have ever done this and I’m not real comfortable doing so as I would really just like to send these out and trade them and such. However, I cut into my National budget and I see these as pretty good deals and I can help some of you guys out and get a few bucks back to spend in Chicago. I would also consider any trade offer for stuff that I need. Now these cards are “bargain bid” cards with none better than VG in condition and all are priced at 8 - 10% of a very old book or less. I cherry picked all the cards that might be of interest to collectors and without further explanation here is what I have to offer: Cards for $1 1958 Topps - George Kell #40 1958 Topps - Carl Erskine #258 1958 Topps - Carl Furillo #417 1959 Topps - Early Wynn #260 1959 Topps - Orlando Cepeda #390 1959 Topps – Bill Mazerowski #415 1962 Post – Al Kaline #20 1962 Post – Brooks Robinson #29 1962 Post – Ernie Banks #188 1962 Topps – Whitey Ford WS #315 1963 Topps – Roger Maris WS #144 1965 Topps Embossed – Sandy Koufax #8 1965 Topps Embossed – Brooks Robinson #16 1966 Topps – Joe Cunningham #531 1966 Topps – Joel Horlen #560 1969 Topps Deckle – Willie Mays #33 1970 Topps – Lou Brock #330 1971 Topps FB – Fran Tarkenton #120 1971 Topps FB – Len Dawson #180 1973 Topps – Johnny Bench #380 1975 Topps - `74 Highlights w/Ryan #7 1975 Topps – Jim Rice RC #616 Cards for $2 1954 Topps – Ed Lopat #5 1954 Topps – Al Rosen #15 1955 Topps – Jim Gilliam #5 1957 Topps – Enos Slaughter #215 1958 Topps – Bobby Richardson #101 1958 Topps – Jim Bunning #115 1958 Topps – Braves Team #377 1959 Topps – Richie Ashburn #300 1959 Topps – Wally Moon #530 1962 Post – Joe Amalfitano SP #144 1963 Post – Chuck Cottier #98 1971 Topps FB – Dick Butkus #25 1975 Topps mini – Pete Rose #320 Cards for $3 1954 Topps – Junior Gilliam #35 1957 Topps – Robin Roberts #15 1958 Topps – Gil Hodges #162 1958 Topps – Stan Musial #476 1959 Topps – Felipe Alou RC #102 1959 Topps – Aaron Baseball Thrill #467 1961 Topps – Jim Perry AS #584 1975 Topps – Nolan Ryan Highlights #5 1975 Topps – Hank Aaron #660 Cards for $4 1958 Topps – Pee Wee Reese #375 1956 Topps – Hoyt Wilhelm #307 1957 Topps – Gil Hodges #80 1966 Topps – Roger Craig SP #543 1969 Topps – Willie Mays #190 1978 Topps – Eddie Murray #36 Cards for $5 1952 Bowman – Bob Lemon #23 1959 Topps – Whitey Ford #430 1964 Topps – Frank Robinson #260 1969 Topps – Bob Clemente #50 1970 Topps – Ernie Banks #630 Cards for $7 1958 Topps – Duke Snider #88 1959 Topps – Ernie Banks #350 1965 Topps – Lou Brock #540 1969 Topps – Tom Seaver #480 1973 Topps – Roberto Clemente #50 If you were to ever visit Mike Sandles display at a show you would know that he sets out boxes marked $1, $2, $3, $5 & $7. He places higher value items in a small showcase, my bet is that I have priced these similar to how he would have done if he had priced them out individually (perhaps a bit below what he would have done). I think these are very good prices for some material that is often a bit more difficult to come by. If we can help each other out then feel free to contact me. If there is anyone out there who believes that I owe you cardboard please do not be bashful if you see something that you would like and that would get us even. Once again I would also entertain anyone who wishes to trade for something on this list – I can do that as well. Thanks for indulging me and please don’t give me grief over the “dealer scum” content – if it offends you and you didn’t delete after the first sentence then just do it now and simply forget about it. My real hope is that this “offer” will be helpful for guys who want to fill a hole in their collection. BE WELL!!! For the new guys (and a reminder to us guys that have been around a while) the Wantlist server has been traditionally used to post a monthly want list. Fellas with a last name in the beggining of the alphabet (A-L) were to post on the 10th of the month and guys at the back of the list (M-Z) on the 20th. Well it's been a long time since I have posted a want list on the server so I thought with the National coming up it was high time to organize some of my collecting goals. The last time I posted my Topps Baseball list to the server in Nov. 2006 I need 569 cards for the `51 - `80 Topps run (368 base + 201 variations), well today I'm happy to day that 25% of that list has been secured and now I'm down to needing 425 cards (272 base + 153 variations) to complete the run. So in an attempt to drum up a trade or move someone toward a RAOK I am posting my Topps Baseball list, any assistance will be appreiciated and compnsat ed (if possible). As most of you know I enjoy sending birthday greetings to our membership and that includes Frank Thomas "The Original One" who turned 79 years young last month. As he has done for the past several years Frank sent me a nice letter in return, I find him to be a very nice man. Frank has included want list's over the past few year's and I just didn't have the time or energy to type them up (Frank does everything longhand as he does not own a computer) and distribute them to the group. I decided this year that I was going to try to help Frank, so if your still with me and are interested I have transposed Frank's letter to me which I invite you to read if you wish. It contains his want list (I have updated the list as I have sent him some material recently - warning this list does contain UV items - so those who need them please put on your sunglasses). On June 19th, 208 Frank Thomas writes: Dear Mark, Thank you for the birthday card and also the Josh Gibson cards and your letter. I really appreciate them. Yes, we had a great relaxing day with my wife and some of our children. All of them came over for Father’s day and we celebrated both days. Now we are getting ready for a wedding on June 21st. Our oldest son’s daughter is getting married and all of the 7 children will be here helping them to celebrate on this day. I know my son and wife can’t wait till it’s over. First of all the rehearsal dinner, then the wedding in the Church where our youngest son, the priest, will celebrate the Mass and then the reception. It will be a good time for everyone. Some of the children from out of town have not seen each other in a few years. Mark, the list you sent me with the Josh Gibson cards is kind of not in existence anymore. The only cards I need anymore are the 1952 Topps, all the others I don’t need anymore. Right now I’m working on the Topps 2008 Series I silver set as well as the gold foil set. Also I’m working on the Topps Series II both the silver and gold foil set. I need a bunch of cards for these. Next time I write it should be down a bit so I can send you a list. Also working on the 2008 Topps Heritage set both the regular and black numbered set. I’m also looking for a Barry Bonds #49 from the Topps 2002 set. Frank Thomas Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 118 Doray Drive 15237-3681 The Topps 2008 Series II set both silver and gold foil sets I need a lot Mark so any card you would be able to send me I probably will need. As this gets closer to completion I will send you another list, okay? Perhaps when you call or see the members of OBC you can tell them I said Hello. Any help you or they can give me will surely be appreciated. Mark, I now have a website a fan from Brooklyn made for me on Google. It is http://www.frankthomastheoriginalone.com/ . I don’t have a computer so when I went to my daughter’s, her husband showed it to me. There is another from a fan in Atlanta, it is http://www.baseballtoddsdugout.com/frankthomas.html . Since you have a computer you can see both of them. Your Friend Frank Thomas “The Original One” 1951 - 1966 Now just recently I sent a large lot of Topps Series II cards to Richard Labs and these crossed in the mail with a large grouping sent to him by Bob D'Angelo so I asked Richard to send his dupes to Frank and he agreed to do so. My guess is that Richard sent him a couple hundred so I would say that if you were so inclined to send Frank cards that you might want to wait on the Series II silver set until Frank writes me again. If you have gold foil cards or Heritage cards from the list and you wish to assist Frank then by all means ship them out. I will ask that if you do this that you send me a list of what is being sent and I will post it to the want-list server on the 20th of the month with the other members from M-Z. My guess is that if you do send him something he will write you a nice note in return, he has done this each of the last 3 or 4 years that I have been sending him a card in June. If you want an autograph in return I would not send more than (2) items as he is still leery about collectors selling his autograph for profit, include a SASE as well. I'm sure Frank would love to hear from any of you - BE WELL!!! I recently updated all my wantlists. A quick check of the OBC wantlistmailinglist archives tells me that I haven't posted a full wantlist since March of 2003.

Cards in ANY condition accepted gladly.
