But anyway, within a matter of seconds, I had six people who wanted some of the offerings. I only wish I had that many to give! I figured it would give it away when I had like FOUR Mantle Topps rookies to give away, and "only one" of them was creased. He felt it would be easier to use when looking for hits to my "Master set". Well after working most of the day I have completed the task but I have discovered something in the process. At first I thought there were only (5) different variations of each card in the set but I have discovered that some Hassan backs are printed with a Series #2 designation and others are not. I have also discovered that some Mecca backs (track only I think) are printed Series of Champion Athletes while others are printed Champion Athlete and Prize Fighter Series. As of yet I do not know what cards of the 153 base set are effected but my guess is that I will be looking for some additional variations and I think I'm going to go crazy!!!!!!!!! SO THANKS STEVE!!! Your template has been helpful already (yea right). Both my "Singles" and my "Singles and Dupes" templates are attached and it also includes the "Canadian version" which I consider a separate set. As I near the end of my quest for building the T205 set, I have found that 85% of the cards are graded. I have reluctantly decided to have the remaining 33 cards in the set graded by SGC. I hope that this will not cause my dismissal from OBC !!!! The cards in my set are primarily G to VGEX. I am going to continue to work at upgrading the poor and fair cards to this level, continuing a process I have usually followed with the sets I build. The one thing that I am thinking I will do differently this time with a set this expensive, is to actually downgrade the few cards that are better than EX, to use the money for upgrades of other cards. I have updated my want list to show the cards that I would like to upgrade and the condition of the cards from which I am upgrading. My favorite Cobb story had something to do with a reporter asking him much later in life what he'd hit against today's pitchers. He said he'd only hit about .300, then after a pause he added, "After all, I'm 73 years old..." 2) A Wide Throw Saves Crawford (Mullin, Stanage). Oscar Stanage was another of the light-hitting catchers of his era. With great defensive skills, his .230ish average was all the Tigers needed with Cobb and Crawford roaming the outfield. 3) Baker Gets His Man (Baker, Collins). We all know Frank Baker as "Home Run" Baker, which is a funny name for a guy who's top season total was 12. However, in the deadball era, that was good enough to lead the league. His actual name came from the 1911 World Series when he homered on consecutive days off of Rube Marquard and Christy 4) Birmingham's Home Run (Birmingham, Turner). Joe Birmingham was a defensive outfielder for the Naps, becoming their manager in 1912. He caused a bit of turmoil when he benched Nap Lajoie in 1913, who of course was the namesake of the team and a popular player. He hit .265 in nine seasons with the future Tribe. 5) Carrigan Blocks His Man (Gaspar, McLean). Larry McLean was 6'5" and 225 lbs and loved to get drunk and fight. He got into a fight with John McGraw, his manager, one day. The end result of that was a chair broken over his head and his exit from the Major Leagues. He was later killed when a barman in Boston shot him in a drunken brawl.
