Most of them are going on Ebay, but 10 are available for trade. I have 38 different in total. I think this is one of the largest collections of T215-2s in existence. I actively searched for these 24/7 for 7 years and this is all I was able to collect. This is just to show how rare these are. Given the rarity, I would prefer to trade these for scarcer needs on my wantlist, specifically E90-3s and E104s of all types, and secondarily T209s color & b&w and T211s. As always, I'm extremely flexible on condition, but prefer no writing on the front. This perky little wrist-slitter of a game was the one with Pedro pitching 6 scoreless innings and El Duque giving up only one run on the Trot Nixon homer. I took Ian, age 9, to witness the festivities, as there's no point in sugar coating what life is going to be like for him. May as well get him acclimated now...] So, back to the new project. For a while I've had this idea of collecting old Topps wax pack wrappers and re-wrapping them around some old cards to make them look just almost like new. I finally manufactured 3 packs from my oldest and favorite wrappers, 1967, 1968 and 1969 and they look SO EXCELLENT! I don't know why I care, but I decided to put decent sample cards from the correct year in the wrapper. But the real trick was to find something to replace the gum, which used to be a pretty decent size stick of pink stuff. And I happened to have a couple of pieces of that gum that was used in some recent Topps set, from this year I think (Heritage? The 1952 look alikes maybe?). The stuff is perfect! It gives the pack that true-to-life original looking pink bulge and, the best part is, the gum is wrapped up! So no pesky sticky mess to worry about... Now, the point: I ran out of gum after 3 packs. I'd love to use the same pieces in the faux '70s packs that I'm just about ready to produce. So I need 10 more pieces of this stuff! Did anybody out there save any of it? This may be the first wantlist just for gum, but I'm willing to risk the absurdity of it to make the rest of these packs look just right, for the sake of the Art project. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Really. - Rick P.S. One more question that has plagued me recently. Does anybody know how much the 1974 packs cost? I know it's either .10 or .15 cents, but I don't know which. 1973 was a dime and 1975 was .15 and I'm just curious. Topps cards. Probably radioactive by now and no cellophane wrapper, but if you are desperate I just my go and see if I can find them for you. I made it a practice in all my completed sets from about `78 on to include a wax pack, but I do not have and wrappers from before that - I might be interested in any wrappers that might be available from before `78 if anybody has some lying around. My Ultimate Quest: The Great American Baseball Card Flipping Trading & Bubble Gum Book. I found this book on a sales rack in a bookstore when I was 11 or 12, and read it cover-to-cover religiously. For those of you that haven’t read it, see if you can dig up a copy, ‘cause this book is what OBC is all about. It is written by 2 guys who grew up in the 50’s & 60’s that collected cards, and reminisces on some of the distinctive & less than stellar ballplayers of that time. It’s very well written, and my eternal thanks go out to Chuck Paris, who actually tracked down another copy for me, since my original is in Tipton VG at this point! So why am I telling you all this? There are cards of every player they speak about (except Eddie Gaedel) featured in this book, & ever since I bought the book I dreamed of a day when I might get ‘em all. Well, over the last 15 years, I’ve managed to knock out most of the book, and here’s what’s left. If you all have the opportunity, read the book "The Celebrant" by Eric Rolfe Greenberg and you, too, will be hooked... just ask Josh! BIBB FALK WISHLIST: Bibb was the collegian who, with no minor league experience, had to step and fill the shoes of one Shoeless Joe Jackson following the Black Sox scandal. He anchored left field for the White Sox for nine years, averaging .315 and topping 90 RBIs on three occasions. After a trade to the Indians, he had three more great years, ending his playing career with a lifetime batting average of .314 with 69 homers and 785 ribbies. After his playing days, he went on to coach my alma mater, the Texas Longhorns, compiling a 468-176 record and earning 20 Southwest Conference titles and two national championships. He retired in 1967. I met Mr. Falk after he had thrown out the opening pitch for the Longhorn Alumni game (he's the Falk in Disch- Falk field, the Longhorns home field), accompanied him on a short walk, and he was gracious enough to sign my program and tell me a few baseball stories. A wonderful man... I'd love to eventually gather all his cards. Had thrown a perfect game up until the final batter in the 9th inning on July 4, 1909. With a 1-ball, 2-strike count, the batter (who happened to be the opposing team's pitcher) crowded the plate and drew a called "ball". Infuriated by the subversion of the enemy batter and the gullability of the Umpire, Wiltse lost his temper and intentionally beaned the hitter, thus ending his strive for perfection. His achievements, while not Hall of Fame caliber, indicated he was a tremendous ballplayer in every aspect of the game and from what I've heard, he was a true "gamer".
