================= To: OBC-Wantlist@yahoogroups.com Date: Thu, 01 Nov 2001 22:37:36 +0800 Subject: It's been a while From: " john harrell" since I sent out a wantlist so here's an updated version. I've made a bit of progress since this last went out, including picking up my first vintage Gehrig (a 33 Canadian Goudey), a complete 1950 set of Callahans, and two 67 Laughlin World Series sets. My Diamond Stars set is down to 32 variations, the 34 Canadian Goudey set is down to 9, getting close to half on the 33 Goudeys. Laissez le bon temps rouler!! WANT LIST: condition desired is a basically intact card. My Ultimate Quest: The Great American Baseball Card Flipping Trading & Bubble Gum Book. I found this book on a sales rack in a bookstore when I was 11 or 12, and read it cover-to-cover religiously. For those of you that haven’t read it, see if you can dig up a copy, ‘cause this book is what OBC is all about. It is written by 2 guys who grew up in the 50’s & 60’s that collected cards, and reminisces on some of the distinctive & less than stellar ballplayers of that time. It’s very well written, and my eternal thanks go out to Chuck Paris, who actually tracked down another copy for me, since my original is in Tipton VG at this point! So why am I telling you all this? There are cards of every player they speak about (except Eddie Gaedel) featured in this book, & ever since I bought the book I dreamed of a day when I might get ‘em all. Well, over the last 15 years, I’ve managed to knock out most of the book, and here’s what’s left. OK, here goes… T206: Bradley (portrait) 52 Topps: Crosetti (384), Nicholson (185), 63 Topps: Stallard (419), Tresh (470), Clemente (540), Mets (473) Last Chance Easy Part – OK, if you feel you absolutely have to mail me cards, but couldn’t find anything on the previous portion of my list, I would also like to have Topps sets from 1980 & 1981, since I do not have them @ present. I have most of the stars already so I mainly need commons. I need a ton of guys from 1980, so I won’t even make that list yet (that’s not to say you can’t send them anyway!), but here’s what I need from 1981 Topps: 2-6 9 12 13 17 21 26 28 29 33 35 36 44 45 48 49 53 55 56 59 62 71 74-76 79 81 84 85 89 90 95 98 99 101 105-107 109 116 117 123 124 126 139 143 150 152 156 159 162-165 167 169 173 177 188-190 194-198 201 203 205 208 211 221 227 230 232 235 243-245 249 258 262-264 269 272 274 276 277 286 292 295 300 302 305 307 313 320 322 326 334 337-339 341 343 344 356-358 366 372 374 378 380 385-387 390 394 401 403 406 412 413 416 421 423 425-428 430 432 433 440 444 445 449 452 454 456 466 468 469 471 474 476 485 486 492 494 496-499 505 509 512 513 520 521 529 532 533 539 544 545 556 559 562 570 573 574 576 578 579 585 589 590 595 596 598 601 602 605 610 621-623 627 632 634 636-638 641 649 654 662 668 671 673 674 676-680 682 683 685 691-693 695 699 701 706 711 718 Thanks for checking out my wantlist!
