Did I say that already? Check it out and let me know what you think. It obviously still needs work; there are still quite a few more Topps sets that I wish to add. But one of my goals is to get my room organized enough to make it feasible to then get my wantlist finished. A couple more sets of shelves should hopefully do the trick. He's sending stuff out like crazy, and we're fortunate to have a guy like this around. Today I went to the mailbox and there was nothing at all in it, except for an 800-count box. Well, I wasn't expecting that... seems like a lot of packages arriving lately are much bigger than I had expected. His box included 2 full 1982 K-Mart sets plus some extras, bringing me to NINE complete sets, and just a few cards away from finishing my tenth, eleventh, and twelfth sets. On the vintage side, there were great hits to my 1961, 64, and 66 Topps sets... Back to UV, there were a couple of 1982 Squirt cards. I can't seem to get even with this guy and from the number of times I've seen his name pop up on the thanks server lately, I've got company. For my 84 Fleer set, Bill sends 5 Tigers including Lance Parrish and a family favorite John Wockenfuss. Back in the day when my three daughters were at home we watched a lot of Tiger games on TV. During the games I would make up silly sayings or rhymes about the players. Most of the time the kids would just roll their eyes and groan, but every once in a while I would come up with something that they thought was funny. It became a Kilbourn family tradition that each time John would come to bat the girls would yell in unison "when he missed the bus John Wockenfuss". I mentioned John last night during a phone conversation with my middle daughter and she said "Dad, I was only 7 years old, I thought Inspector Gadget was funny". How BILL ASHTON knew I was collecting the 2008T Heritage set I will never know. Perhaps being a boomer himself he realized the unresistible allure of the retro 59T design. OK, that might explain that part, but I can't explain how he knew I needed both cards he sent. Of course I have less then a third of the set thus far so my statistician spouse might say the odds against are not all that improbable. Well, at the very least Bill is a darn good guesser. Thanks much Bill for the knock offs. While I'm here, are others out there crazy enough to be collecting this set, of which the odds against completing ARE statistically significant? LYNN MILLER sent a box that arrived one day later than the others... and it's another big brick of 1981 Donruss! I was wondering how the ones that came yesterday were all from about 450-600. So here's the rest. And apparently I'm not the only one he's hitting. Thanks again, LYNN. Aaron PS there was a nice stack of TWENTY 1959 Topps cards, also included in this box. Hello All. Its time to thank some fine traders for neat items that were sent to Southeastern Michigan. These items have come in over the past week and it's high time to thank: Bill Ashton sends me a grouping of (6) cards from the `84 Donruss set featuring Gary Garter, Ozzie Smith, Al Oliver and Tiger Lou Whittaker. Not a bad package at all for the Year of the Month project. Thanks for the great additions to the collection Bill!!! John Scott Gray sticks it to me with some stickers from the `81 Fleer set, names like Murphy, Gossage, Parker, Bell & Cey bringing that list closer to completion. JSG also includes a couple of `02 Topps Archive HI numbers that have eluded me for many a year. I appreciate these additions to the collection John Scott!!! Rick Lyons finds a couple of `84 Donruss (Lee Smith & Steve Carlton) and a group of (7) `84 Fleer cards (Dennis Lamp, Dave Rozema, Paul Molitor, Terry Francona, Jeff Reardon, Ozzie Smith and Sparky Anderson). What a nice grouping for the months section of the Year of the Month project - Thanks Rick!!! Lynn Miller connects with a grouping of (15) cards from the `82 Donruss set that are quite helpful in putting to rest a set that I never was very interested in prior to the Year of the Month project. Cards of TIGERS Morris, Trammell, Summers, Wilcox and Wockenfuss were included - Thanks for your assistance Lynn!!! Aaron Shirley slips me a few items for my `84 Donruss set with the San Diego Chicken and a Don Mattingly RC, quite nice. Aaron also includes (3) `84-85 Topps Hockey cards for the Year of the Month project. Nice of you to help me Aaron!!! T.J. Valacek finds (15) `84 Donruss to add to this months posting on the Year of the Month project. Names like Langsford, Forsch and Stewart as well as TIGERS Pashnic and Brookens. T.J. also gets me started with a small starter set of (21) `82-83 OPC Hockey cards so I will soon be gathering all that I have and posting a want list for this set Thanks to T.J. Aaron Shirley and Bob Reed have done a bang up job on the OBC Project and I think I've pretty much gone through what is listed so far with a few mailings still left, however I have updated those lists. No star cards in the lots that I am aware of. And if these go unclaimed in the next month or so, I'll sent them to Ed Schott for his Baltimore kids project. k. A final small bonus. The dealer also threw in a plastic box of Mantle reprints. I know we have a few Mantle specific collectors so tell me you are and you get preference.
