Names like Clemens, Ryan, Gooden, & Hernandez were included, & Gary even re-packaged them in original wrappers so I'd feel like I was opening fresh packs. Gary's RAOK helps to get this set under 100 to go, less than a week after I started it. Thanks Gary! Kevin's box brought that wantlist down to only 41 to go, after only a week of collecting the set. Terrific stuff, Kevin, thanks! Tom Housley ================= Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2005 17:39:10 -0000 To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com From: "xtrjmx" Subject: Available -- 2004 Bowman FB starter set. Hi all... Friday afternoon I picked up a new batch of cards from a friend who only collects the super high-end inserts and then passes the "commons" on to me. Among the batch of cards that I thought someone might like is a pretty decent starter set of 3004 Bowman football. The set has 275 cards (110 veterans and 165 rookies) and the starter set is only missing 27 of the vets and 43 of the rookies. He must have pulled the big three rookies (Rothlesberger, Manning, and Rivers) but most of the other good rookies are still here. Your wantlist would read: 2004 Bowman: NEED #'s 8 12 19 24 25 28 30 32 35 45 47 49 53 62 64 68 71 81 92 95 97 104 105 106 107 108 109 111 113 114 122 124 129 131 133 147 155 162 163 171 190 192 197 200 209 212 213 214 221 223 224 228 229 230 233 234 236 237 240 243 244 247 250 252 253 258 260 261 269 and 271 Let me know if you want to finish this one and I'll get 'em out to you ASAP. Oh... also have some of the Gold cards, so if you want those too LMK. On an aside, this same local guy is a huge Ichiro fan and asked if I might be able to find him an Ichiro autograph and/or jersey card. If any of you have one available or have a great resource for getting one (for $ or trade), I'd *love* to talk with ya, as I feel I owe this local guy bigtime and would be willing to part with some of my own non-dupes just to help even the score with him a little. I also know he's a huge fan of Nolan Ryan, so any leads there would be great too. Take care and I look forward to hearing from ya... ...Jim ================= Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2005 09:46:01 EST To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com, Tradingbases@yahoogroups.com From: smartalecx@aol.com Subject: weekend thanks DON ROTH sends a couple of ole' time bears (new home of mushin muhammad) with 1999 UD Century Legends hits of Gale Sayers and Sid Luckman, who Don played against in High School (Don was a senior while Sid was a starting freshman). tnx don! gary mandell ================= Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2005 23:04:26 -0000 To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com From: "Bob D'Angelo" Subject: Thanks to Shawn Hi gang, Big thanks go out to Shawn Adkins, who sends an 800-count box stuffed with all sorts of football, baseball, and nonsports cards. Happy Trading, Kevin Martens ================= Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2005 23:39:35 EST To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com From: directorth@aol.com Subject: Dos Grande packages! Thanks today to DAN COEN and BOB D'ANGELO. Dan sends a puffy with some hits to my 1985 Fleer set, including redheaded former Red Mike LaCoss (who, if he ever decides to become an actor, could probably play Ron Howard. Mike sure looks a grown-up Opie to me.) Thanks Dan! Bob attacks what's left of my 1988 Topps Big wantllist, sending a box of over 60 to me, including some huge names - Schmidt & Bonds (a very skinny, pre-juiced, er, pre-pumped Bonds) among other greats. That gets that 1956 look-a-like set down to only 9 left! Why the 1956 mention, you may wonder? Well, in a neat OBC coincidence, I also need just 9 more to finish my 1956 set - although the 1988 Big are going to be juuuuust a little easier to come by. (And in my variation quest I discovered the 88 Big set has a variation, dammit. Number 39, Steinbach, can be found with either a black or white Topps logo on the front, so I guess I really need 10, including the variation.) Thanks again, Bob & Dan! Tom Housley
