To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com From: XTrJmx@aol.com Hi all... Ain't it great to have baseball back? Went to the opener of the Twins/KC with Doug DeJong and a few other friends and had a terrific time, especially when Hunter made a game-saving catch in the 9th. He did it again in last night's game, robbing Sweeney of the game-tieing HR. Guess defense *does* win some ballgames. I'm taking my daughter to the local Omaha Royals opener tonight.... should be a great time though far more chilly than the balmy 71 in KC on Monday. Anyway, I've got a batch of different cards that I'd love to get sent out. Same rules as always... ask and their yours. I guess these are SPs? I don't have a Beckett to confirm this. If someone else can, LMK. If you know a good source for getting these cheap, I'll gladly reimburse you. Of course, if you have any of these, I'd happily trade generously for them. I have lots of extra 2001 Archive as well as "real" cards. While cruising for 2001 Archive, I stumbled upon the 2002 Archive today. The problem of unreadable card numbers is gone! There are 200 cards in the first series. I bought a sifted through box for $25.and estimate that I have 2/3 of the set but no checklist yet. Steve ================= Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2002 01:43:07 EDT Subject: Question re: '91 Donruss... To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com From: XTrJmx@aol.com Hi all... As I was cleaning up the den, I was trying to select another box of overproduced cardboard to deligate to my storage area rather than my card room in order to free up some space. One promising candidate was a box with a motherload of Donruss from '89-93. As I was looking at it, it occurred to me that I had never finished (started?) building the '91 Donruss set. Normally, that wouldn't bother me except it has some sentimental value, as I started it during a trip to San Antonio with my folks, wife, brother, and his family. Thus, I decided to give it a shot and I doubt I'll need more than a dozen cards to finish the set. As I was sorting through and choosing the best condition card from the dupes, something caught my eye. On a select few cards, there was a different pattern along the border of the card. That is, the colored stripes that appear in varied widths are different. Did Donruss print their manufacturer's sets on different sheets than the cards they put in wax packs? This would seem to be the most logical explanation, as I could have easily ended up getting some singles from broken sets over the years. Take care and thanks for any insights... ...Jim ================= Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 22:04:27 EDT Subject: Team and Player collector info wanted... Stars are often in the dime bin with inserts, "short prints", etc. in the quarter-through-dollar boxes. Even got a ton of '01 Topps Heritage baseball at a nickle a card... It was missing 70 some cards! Granted, it did contain 70 some dupes. Bad day at the factory I guess. Anyway, I finally got my package from Fleer customer service but I still need one card for the 2001 Fleer Tradition set, #265. I also still need a bunch of 2002 Fleer Tradition cards. But before we get to the want list, I have some SPs from the 2002 Tradition set that are up for grabs to whoever needs them. 2002 Fleer Tradition Short prints available: 6 20 25 26 32 89 94 98 My wantlists: 2001 Fleer Tradition Baseball (001 cards needed) 265 2002 Fleer Tradition Baseball (074 cards needed) 001 / 002 / 003 / 004 / 005 / 007 / 009 / 010 / 011 / 012 / 014 / 015 / 021 / 022 / 023 / 024 / 028 / 029 / 030 / 031 / 036 / 037 / 038 / 039 / 040 / 041 / 046 / 047 / 049 / 053 / 054 / 055 / 056 / 057 / 058 / 060 / 062 / 064 / 066 / 067 / 068 / 070 / 072 / 073 / 074 / 075 / 076 / 077 / 078 / 079 / 081 / 083 / 084 / 085 / 086 / 087 / 088 / 097 / 100 / 105 / 117 / 141 / 143 / 227 / 272 / 278 / 291 / 295 / 318 / 331 / 354 / 358 / 407 / 474 Thanks for looking.
