But the majority of the package was a load of PUZZLE PIECES from various Donruss sets... these were from 1984-1991 sets, and included a lot that I know I didn't have yet. I claimed them off the waiver wire he sent a few days ago, and boy did he deliver! Thanks, Dan. So that brings me to the quest: Below is the most complete wantlist I can come up with, for ALL the puzzles produced by Donruss/Leaf. I have begun work on a complete collection of these, and if possible, I'd like to also get a second set of the 63-piece puzzles, so I can actually put them all together and display them. I did that for the first time in 1986 when I bought countless packs, and had several of the Hank Aaron puzzles. My mom and I put one together and puzzle-glued it onto some cardboard, and made a nice display. Anyway, after reading extensively through a 2002 Buckett Almanac and doing various eBay searches, there are at least 6 questions that I came up with and had the presence of mind to write down: Were the Leaf pieces from 1985-1988 the same as the Donruss version? Was there a SUPER-sized puzzle issued in any of the 1988-1992 SUPER DK Was there a MINI-puzzle issued in any of the little sets of 1989 or 1990? Was there a "completed puzzle" card in the 1982 and 1992 Donruss, or 1990 and 1991 Leaf sets? I seem to recall there were variations, at least one year, of cards with and without the decimal next to the piece numbers? I have some 2002 Donruss Originals puzzle pieces. Were there any other puzzles issued after 1992? Perhaps some of you would be willing and able to shed some light on this "puzzling" subject. Haha. That was a real groaner. This takes out the actual wantLIST part, but provides a single list at the end for you to cut and paste into any of the "main set puzzles." Also, when I originally composed the 63-piece wantlist to be shown as 3-piece cards, there were more spaces between them to make it easier to read. But I had forgotten that Yahoo "fixes" the text of all the posts by taking out extra spaces, so I've tried to "re-fix" that with a couple of signs placed between the piece numbers. Some of you may already know this, but I wanted to announce it officially: I'm the youth minister in a church, and I'M STARTING A KIDS' CARD COLLECTING GROUP at the church! Our first meeting will be March 31st, set right before Opening Day to get them ready for the season with a new (or renewed) hobby. I've invited anyone who already collects cards (or anything else) to bring something for a little "show and tell" time, and anyone who does NOT already collect, but might be interested in cards, can come too. Anyone who comes gets free cards. I've started talking with them, getting them excited about the idea, and have come up with several ideas of ways for them to "earn" free stuff: - Everyone who comes to the first meeting will get a free box until I run out, and at least 100 cards to put in it. - They can have as many cards as they can count in a minute. They count from a random stack, then they can dig into the boxes and find whichever ones they want. - I've sent out a sheet asking them to guess when some of the Braves will reach certain statistical milestones this season (like Chipper's 400th career double, Andruw's 1000th RBI, etc) and whoever guesses the closest to each one gets free stuff. - Anyone who shows me an official wantlist that they have been working on, can have free cards for that list, if I have them available. - Anyone who brings someone new into the group, or donates any supplies or cards, gets free stuff. Then there will be some church-related incentives: - Anyone who has come to Sunday School every week since the last - Anyone who invites a new friend to any church-related function... - Those who have ALREADY been coming the most... - Anyone who learns the books of the New Testament or Old Testament... - I'm sure I will come up with plenty more... Well, I'm obviously excited to get some of these young guys (and maybe gals) started on a fun hobby. And I wanted to share that story with you. But you all know what's coming next. BEGGING.
