Usually, I take a walk past their card section, rarely purchasing unless I think I am going to see my nephew. While perusing their inventory, I saw that they had rack packs available for the 2006 topps. The packs even came with three vintage cards - all of mine were from the early 80's. I don't know if they have been doing this for a while, but I had to buy a pack, just to relieve some old memories. Thanks to Gary Mandell, who sent a variety pack which included a half-dozen Conlon Collection including Miller Huggins & Al Simmons. I love those Conlon cards (well, I could live without the super-glossy coating if given a choice); the photos of the old-timers are fantastic, and the stories are neat. On the back of his card, Bucky Walters shares the story of how, during Johnny Vander Meer's 2nd no-hitter, he (Walters) was booed when he went to the bullpen to warm up. Seems Vander Meer was extremely wild that night despite holding the Dodgers hitless.
