I was curious how liberal Topps was in their definition of "vintage" and was also curious about Andy Cook's contention that Washington Nationals cards are hard to come by, so I bought the rack-pack to check it out. "Vintage" cards were a 1985 Bill Gullickson, a 1986 Mickey Tettleton, and a1988 Rick Sutcliffe. I kind of figured their definition of "vintage" would differ from mine. Washington Nationals cards - zero (Andy may be on to something here). The only "keeper" in the pack was a Mickey Mantle Home Run History card (MHR1) which was in a 1955 Topps style - goes into my Mantle binder. I did learn from the cartoon on the card backs that Xavier Nady holds the home run record for players whose name starts with an "X" -- 25 home runs after only 4 seasons. -Dave Fallen ================= Date: Sat, 3 Jun 2006 21:35:12 EDT To: uvlist@yahoogroups.com From: JEdward@aol.com Subject: This Week in Baseball Cards Marshall West sent a rather interesting assortment of cards. Six from the 1984 Topps set, plus 23 1985's. Then Marshall sent some Tigers, A Pacific Legends Hank Greenberg, and two cards from a 1987 Baseball's All-Time Greats set, Mickey Cochrane and Sam Crawford. These cards will look good in my "Odd-ball" binder. Hi all, I thought I received the last card I needed for the 2000 Ultra set, but as I was putting the set to bed, I saw a note in the box where card 292 - Wiki Gonzalez was suppose to be. The note read.."We are Back"., signed the Gremlins. So everyone this is just a heads up.. lock your doors and windows and hide your cards as it is Gremlin Season. And if anyone happens to have card #292 Wiki Gonzalez, I would really appreciate it if you send it my way, I would pay you back nicely. This has been a special alert!!
