He was also 1-4, with a 4.17 ERA for the Slammers. As you know, T205s were some of the first cards to have stats, but all I get from Mr Flynn is that he played 93 games for the Pirates in 1910, hitting .274, and fielding.977. I have no idea how big his nipples are, or how many poops he took during the 1910 season. They probably didn't have that as a fantasy stat back then. Thanks a ton, Mac! I think I have told this story before but I=E2=99ll tell it again. My first cards as a kid came from an older cousin roughly 100-150 cardsbut most were 1960 fleer football with some 60 and 61 baseball and five fleer basketball cards. I told the story about the five basketball cards before so i won=E2=99t go off on that tangent again today. I got them in about 1970 around eight years old this group got me hooked on cards although Ididn=E2=99t purchase any until a few years later. Our family was more of a football family it was the only sport my dad played in high school so the fleer football cards have always had a special place for me. When I joined OBC the dupes from that group plus a bunch of 75=E2=99s that I bought were probably the only football dupes I had so I spread =E2=9CWes=E2=99=E2=9D cards around. Wes wrote his name or typed it on a lot of the cards not sure now who ended up with them but some of you guys have a 60 fleer football card with Wes on it. I finished the set along time ago but kept all of Wes=E2=99 cards in my set didn=E2=99t want to upgrade When Mike posted he picked these up I thought they were so cool although I have seen them before but I would have never thought of buying them mainly because I know they have value and you can=E2=99t buy everything so I would be happy with the singles and call it good. When he said he would swap for them instead of selling them I had to try to make a swap for them. As soon as I got them I took them to Michael=E2=99s to have them framed.I just picked out a generic frame for now but some day I=E2=99ll get a custom fancy frame to highlight them better. I want to thank Mike again forthese they will always be one of my prized pieces in my card collection. We arrived slightly after Noon and madeour way into the show, by then everybody who were going to be there were there so the OBC greetings commenced. I would like to thank these fellow traders for spending time and finding something to hand to me at the show: Joe Denning handed over a trio of `60 MacGregor Advisory Staff Postcards (Ashburn, Freese, & Schoendiest) giving me now four of these. Leave it to Joeto find something obscure for my collection. LaShelle Denning connects with a `50 Callahan card of TIGER Ty Cobb!!! A fantastic hit to a set I really like. Later while at Mark Smith=E2=99s table she saw me eyeballing a card for the Casey & Kildare set and picked up the Richard chamberlain card for me. This kind of generosity is often observed of OBC=E2=99ers but not usually their wives, of course with the exception of the Dennings =E2=93 Thanks LaShelle. John Scott Gray was at the show, and we have not seen each other in some time. JSG did not come empty handed as he presented me an envelope with `38 Goudey Big Head card of Rip Radcliff. It was great catching up and spending some time with you John, thanks for the pre-war entry to my collection!!! Tom Housley surprises the heck out of me by producing a card set commemorating the event in Strongsville. He indicated that he couldn=E2=99t hit mylist but these one of a kind additions to the collection are as good, if not better, than anything else. That=E2=99s all I can say is WOW =E2=93 thanks George!!!! Ed Hutchinson and I have been meeting up at shows for quite some time sincehe first joined VCT many years ago. Now an OBC stalwart Ed brought (23) very shiny items that I will detail elsewhere =E2=93 great to see you Ed!!! Dave Luciano and I have shaken hands for the first time. After introducing me to his lovely wife Christine, Dave handed me a Fed-Ex mailer with a set of YAZ cards inside for my hero binder. It=E2=99s always nice to strike off things from the want list but it is even better to add to the list of collecting friends that I have met in person. Welcome to that group Dave!!! Kevin Martens though not at the show connects through Mike Rich with some UV inserts and skeds. Thanks Kevin for thinking of me in your recent mailingto John McLaughlin and I met up almost immediately following my entry into theshow and of course he handed me an envelope with a Toledo Mud-hens schedule to plan our annual trip to 5/3 Field and a `74 Fleer FB HOF card of Joe Perry. I also enjoyed visiting with John and Ranaye for a while before they left for home. Thanks for thinking of me and looking forward to an up-coming ballgame my friend!!! Mike Rich allows me to sit shotgun on the trip to Strongsville. The morningdrive was pretty wet as the first hour and a half of the drive was rain filled. The ride down was made a bit easier with a nice pack of cards featuring a `39 Playball card of Eric McNair, (2) `70 Milk Dud cards (John & Staub), (2) `74 TCMA `20=E2=99s League Leaders (Gehringer, Goslin & Williams), (2) TCMA `40 Leauge Leaders Mize & Nicholson), and (3) Fleer BSKB cards. Also in the car was our friend Rocky and I received a few `69 Milton Bradley=E2=99s including HOM=E2=99er Norm Cash, a few `68 Atlantic Oil cards again with Cash, and a few TIGER HOF post cards (Cobb & Jennings). This was quite helpful Mike and Rocky =E2=93 thanks!!! Wes Sheppard is always a delight to hang out with and kick back a few adultlibations. Upon meeting up at the show Wes handed over a Norm Cash card and a very nice `54 Red Heart card of Frankie Baumholtz. I still can=E2=99t figure out why this card has been so difficult to come by =E2=93 but Wes puts an end to that search. Thanks so much Wes!!! Sam Taylor closes out the barrage on the want list with a number of items. To begin with, a stack of (18) `77 Topps Cloth stickers w/single asterisk, (4) `77 Topps FB for a friend, (2) `61 Bell Brand Dodgers (Wills & Sherry).Sam includes some unique TIGER items with a `62 Post FB single (Horner) w/a Bill Freehan cut `63 RC pic pasted to the back - priceless, another TIGERcollectable w/`65 Topps Jim Northrup card with newspaper photo of Jim Pasted on the front of the card =E2=93 I can=E2=99t make this stuff up. Sam continues with trimmed `31 W-517 of Jimmie Foxx and a Top 10 hit w/a `52Red Man Casey Stengel leaving just the Mays to the base set. Thanks so much for the great cardboard Sam!!! So, another big thanks out to Mike Rich for handling the transportation and to Sam and Michelle Taylor for their gracious hospitality and great beer selection at their home following the event. Thanks Wes. Sam Taylor handed me an envelope with a 52 Topps hit, a a 79 Topps Fisk, four 76 Topps Traded which is the last of those, and the last 78 Topps hit needed to kill that set! Thank you Sam!! Ed Hutchinson handing me a 63 Topps hit, and later at Kurt Tourdot's table found one of the remaining 72 Topps cards I needed, the Steve Garvey, and bought it for me! Later I found the last three cards for that set but will give Ed the set killer credit!! I found something for Ed later in Kurt's bargain box, and it is always fun hitting another OBCers list. Ed and I later spent a long time going through a great table of $2 cards where I found a number of hits to the early 60s sets. When I arrived home I found another envelope waiting for me from Ed, with three more 63 hits and a 79 Topps! Thanks much Ed. Finally, it was great seeing John McLaughlin who handed me a trio of beautiful 52 Topps cards....great cards! Thanks John. In addition to Ed's envelope, when I got home I found 4 fantastic 1952 Topps cards awaiting me from John Stamper for the NCAA win by Villanova. Thanks John! Joe Denning also sends a great envelope, with a pair of 53 Topps, a pair of 55 Bowman Football, and one hit each from the 61 Topps, 63 Fleer, and 66 Topps sets. Wow. Thanks Joe! It was my first Strongsville Show, and I was really impressed. All vintage and most dealers had some sort of bargain box or otherwise reasonably priced items. I got there at 11 am and saw Ken Morganti in the parking lot. I went ahead and bought the three day pass so I could get in at 11am figuring someone in OBC could use the other two days of the pass and Ken could get it to them. I would loved to have stayed longer, but headed out Friday night for Cincinnati to see my daughter. We caught the Reds game in between rain showers Saturday and I had a great visit with her. For me the show was a hit as I found the last two 58 Topps I needed and (I think) the last 23 72 Topps cards. I have gremlin checked the 58 Topps set and it is complete!! Woo Hoo! Big thanks to Kurt Tourdot who set aside a nice Koufax for me at 10% of book. Kurt's table also provided all my 72 Topps hits. I haven't checked the 72 set yet but found a suspicious looking hole ---- hopefully it shows up when I get my incredibly messy desk cleaned up. I also was able to pick up 7 T206s at reasonably prices (included the Marquard portrait), some T218 boxing cards, six of the nine remaining 1964 Topps, and a smattering of hits to various other sets. Of course, it is always great to see a bunch of OBCers. It=92s another thing to happily open it up to other folks and enjoy doing so. I know this is obc however, Sam showed us his family first and we really enjoyed your kids and bride. First OBC meet. I was definitely unprepared for this generosity by the OBC guys. I brought stuff, but THEY BROUGHT STUFF. This will be the last time I am unpreparred. I wish I could document the card grab but I couldn=92t and we had to leave early and never went through half the stuff. Thanks to TOM HOUSLEY for going beyond creative and thoughtful with a card set of us knucklheads.
