Very cool Jake and I'm pleased to have these itemsin my Tigers collection. Consider yourself very well Thanked! WES SHEPARD sends along five 59s, four horizontals, andhimself. JAMES CRAIG mails a Nu Card Scoops featuring the"Tigers Beat Senators" card. Also enveloped was a 63 Post and a 60Leaf, Clem Labine who, contrary to his Dodger uniform was actually on the Tigersroster in 1960. Thanks a bunch for these un-Topps type hits! ANTHONY ARBEENY hits my Tigers OPC list with two 74 highnumbers and a 75. He adds a psycho Blyleven as well. It should be noted thatAnt used the note I sent him to write a note back to me. Thanks for the greathits & for beingeco-friendly in theprocess. Speaking of recycling, DOUG DEJONG not only used my note andmy own words, but he actually used the same 3 pocket sleeve I sent him. From: familytoad@comcast.net is becoming a fine source for my second 72 psycho set, this #659 Aspromonte is a big help. Thank you Geno!

Bob Donaldson was responsible for 2 of the envelopes, one a DS E90-1 Tommy Leach and the othera SB winning duo from that same psycho set, with numbers in the 700's. Wonderful additions. Thank you Bob!

TJ Is going on the board as a Gremlin Set Killer! 1971 Topps Jon Matlack jumped ship when I thought I had all the black beauties secured...and TJ brought home the young Met!
Thank you TJ!

John Stamper clobbered my 1975 Topps Mini set when I first posted it, but has located another 6 pack of the tiny, colorful cards! I really like these cards.
Thank you John!

Randy Welk writes..."I boughtthese when I was 10 years old, knowing you would win the SB pool someday" That is a fantastic prediction, and they were 1971 Topps Football, especially cherished here all these years later! Thanks Randy!

Doug DeJong hit the 1976 stragglers, gremlins or otherwise unsecured bicentennials with a Ron Guidry RC! That is terrific as it represents a milestone of only needing an even 50 for my version of the Topps Run! Thank you Doug!

Donnie Barnett sends 5 of the aforementioned psychos! Of course to hit this second set of mine, they needed to be big numbered..and they were! What a day for the 72's! Thank you Donnie!!

That haul, along with yesterday's will have me sorting, editing and reading all the rest of the night! You guys are absolutely incredible!!

Among the greats featured are Clemente, Aaron, Brooks Robinson, Drysdale, Koufax, and Oliva. Koufax had a 1.74 ERA in 1964 - not too shabby. JOHN DAHMS sent a trio of 1963 Fleers - Jerry Lumpe, Rod Kanehl, and Ruben Amaro. I think this might be the first and only card I have of Kanehl. Lumpe, by the way, was coming off a 1962 season where he hit over .300. JIMI THAYER sent me a crisp 1961 Fleer of Ray Herbert, definitely the best condition card I have from that set. Herbert was coming off a 20-9 season for the White Sox. NATE MACK decided to hit my 1955 Bowman set four times, including the combo card for Bobby and Billy Shantz, who at the time were both with the Kansas City Athletics. If you think that's a bit late, the picture was dated 2010! Inside was a card James promised, but totally forgot to send me (less than a couple months ago, not 6+ years ago). It contained one card which was SUPPOSED to be in my top five most wanted, so I'm gonna give him credit for it. Since I always list the senders alphabetically and I always list the card chronologically, I'll just let you know now: it's the last card. First up was a 1959 Fleer Ted Williams with his daughter Barbara. I wonder if she ever owned a copy of this card. Two 1961 Fleer hits, both Cardinals, Ducky Medwick and Jesse Haines. And the "shoulda been" top five was 1963 Fleer Ken Boyer. This actually completes my 1963 Fleer Cardinals team set at "all four" cards. Hope everything is well in your corner of the world. A special thought and prayer goes out to our brethren in SoCal - lots of rain down there (and up here, too). Hope you're all well away from mudslides and flash flooding. Apologies for not acknowledging these earlier. We were super (heh) busy getting ready to attend the World Ag Expo (the world's largest farm show), and this past week was flat-out crazy as we manned our booth and spoke with current and hopefully prospective clients. Got back late Thursday night and have been battling allergies ever since. I entered into two different Super Bowl pools this year: one that was $20 a square and this one. Tom Brady threw a pick-6 late in the 2nd quarter that probably cost me $400... assuming the Patriots would have scored a touchdown on the drive. Things didn't go my way in the 4th quarter, either. If the Falcons would have scored a TD, I might have won $800. Ugh! Thankfully the 3rd quarter in the OBC pool went my way, which means lots and lots of great old cardboard in my mailbox. Woo hoo!! In no particular order: Bob Reed: 1953 Color Carl "Oisk" Erskine and a 1976 Robert Newhouse (which brings the '76 football set down to just 5!). I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Erskine at one of the Anaheim Nationals and got another '53 Color signed by him. Very glad to have another to go in the main set. Thanks, Bob! Mike Rich: 1954 Red Man Gil Hodges (with tab!) and one of the last '72 football low numbers I need, Ted Kwalick. Thank you, Mike! TJ Valacak (aka my cereal buddy!): a couple of hits to my team card subsets: '66 Braves and '64 Cubs. Thanks, TJ! Kevin Martens: a great SCP for my '68 set, Tony LaRussa. Thanks, Kevin! Nate Mack: another SCP for the '68, Lou Brock. Wowsers! Thanks, Nate! Jay Tysver: Jay also takes aim at the team card list - '62s of the Dodgers and Nationals, and a '65 of the Tigers. Thanks, Jay! Spike asks if he can start the '35 Goudey Dodgers set, and in fact, he can! 20 years in OBC and I've never owned one of these. Now I do, in the form of Stan Bordagaray. Super cool card, Spike - thank you! Anson Whaley: Anson comes calling with a SCP from the gorgeous '53 Color, Saul Rogovin. Thanks, Anson, and welcome to OBC! Geno Wagner: Geno hits the psycho portion of the team card list with the Royals, and also sends a couple of Red Wings scheds. Thanks, Geno! Joshua Levine: Joshua hits me one time with a '65 Giant Rookie Stars. This is a set that Ken Morganti started for me at the last Anaheim National. It's getting pretty darn close! Thanks, Joshua! Bob Neill: team card hits from '65 (Tigers) and '70 (Pilots high number!). Thanks, Bob! Marshall West: Marshall didn't have a hit from my lists, so he sent a '64 Dean Chance. Now, I've seen soooooo many people rave about the '64, so I think Marshall may have been wrong. He just may have sent the first hit, and a razor-sharp one to boot, to a prospective new set. Thanks, Marshall, and I'm really glad you liked that ratty old Crazy Legs! Mark Talbot: Mark takes aim at several sets: '76 football (Dolphins checklist), '72 football (Gene Upshaw!), '77 football (kicker John Smith) and team cards from '64 (Cubs) and '65 (Tigers and White Sox). Thanks, Mark! Mike Glasser: a beautiful '53 Color of Joe Nuxhall. Thanks, Mike! Gersh: another fantastic '53 Color Dodger in the form of Chuck Dressen! Thanks, Gersh! Earl Kilbourn: this was actually a pre-Super Bowl sending, when Earl sent something to pretty much everyone in OBC. Another hit to the '53 Color in the form of Walt Dropo. Sweet card! Thanks, EEK! Guru: according to Guru's Grading guide ( http://www.oldbaseball.com/funstuff/Gurugrading.htm ), no Brooklyn Dodger can ever grade below EX, which means my new '52 Topps Gil Hodges red back is at least that! What a fantastic card. Thanks, Larry! Doug DeJong: two hits to the '53 Color set: Russ Meyer and Paul Richards! Thanks so much, Doug! Rick Lyons: Rick didn't know this, but I have slowly been gathering a few OPC Dodgers with the intent of someday adding them to my lists. That means the '73 Al Downing and '74 checklist are wonderful addition to a future endeavor. Rick isn't done, though - he sent another item that I've never owned 'til now: a '62 Salada coin of Wally Moon! I gotta say that this is pretty stinkin' cool. Thanks, Rick! TJ VALACAK brightens my mail box as well with 8 1976 OPeeChees and a 1971 Kellogg. Nice to get my long-term wantlist down below 10,000 cards. With 19 cards coming in today, if I maintain this pace, I'll be getting to zero in just 1.5 years. No, doesn't seem likely. JIMI THAYER sends a baker's dozen hits to my 1970s basketball sets, 1973-74 and 1975-76, with a very beautiful card of John Drew mid-dunk. When I was a kid, living in the Pittsburgh area, there were no nearby NBA teams, so when Ted Turner started broadcasting Hawks games, I became susceptible to the announcers' propaganda and became a Hawks fan in time to witness the emergence of Dominique Wilkins. I remember John Drew as a key part of those early 1980s teams I used to watch. In fact, I just read on Wikipedia that Wilkins was actually acquired via trade for Drew, something I don't think I ever knew. Wikipedia says Drew is now a taxi driver in Houston. First up is Richard Labs, who sent a couple of really nice looking '53 Colors: Smoky Burgess and Sherm Lollar. Thanks, Richard! Now, I'm going to ramble for just a second before thanking Peter Mead for his envelope. It occurs to me that there are a few things from Canada that I really love. First and foremost is Rush. I was exposed to Rush in 1981 and was an instant fan - they remain one of my all time favorite bands to this day. Another great thing about Canada is British Columbia - one of the most breathtakingly beautiful regions on earth. That reminds me of my good friend Grant, who I was lucky enough to meet years ago while passing through Vancouver. Which reminds me of another thing I dig about Canada, the RCMP. I'm literally giggling as I write that - hi, Grant! Which brings me to the last wonderful thing that Canada has given the world, O-Pee-Chee baseball cards. Peter was paying attention last weekend when I was thanking Rick Lyons for sending a couple of OPC Dodgers. I have never collected OPC, but was thinking of maybe doing so after Rick's cards arrived. Seems that was all that Peter needed to hear, as he stuffed an envelope full of Canadian Dodgers! 1971 Willie Crawford, '72 Jim Brewer, '78s of Rau, Rhoden & Reggie Smith, '79s of Garvey, Monday & Sutton, and '80s of Cey, Smith and Gary Thomasson. Sweeeeeet, thanks Peter! So as a result, I moved my reorganized my wantlist a little (everything is now sorted by company rather than year) and added OPC Dodgers sets from 1965 through 1980. That should keep me busy for a bit! Richard and Peter - thanks again! ================= Date: Sun, 26 Feb 2017 01:37:42 +0000 (UTC) To: OBC Thanks Subject: THANKS TO: From: EEK GREG HENTHORN who sends a great puffy with HOFers Bob Gibson (horizontal) and Nellie Fox (woodie). It is cool to see the 1957 Rhodes card listing the team name as the "New York Giants" and a year later, the 1958 Thomas shows "San Fran. Giants". In addition, Andy decided to start me on a new set by sending a pair of the 1977 O-Pee-Chee glossy hockey cards, featuring Clark Gilles and Ken Dryden. I love that goaltender's mask, so long as I don't have nightmares tonight!! Be sure to refresh a page if you find issues and even clear your cache if issues with the same page persist. After the first report, I changed my landing page from my home page to my main wantlist page and I'm still getting reports of issues. I had some broken links to pictures, but that should have been all the issues on my site, and they should now be fixed. By the way, the internet is best viewed with Google's Chrome browser, as other browsers try to fix poor coding, but end up making web pages just as broken as the poor coding does most of the time. Thanks for the hits, and thanks for the heads up that there may be something wrong with my web site.
