From: James Silva Who started the tradition of incorporating bad puns into our thanks emails?I owe them one! So Greg Henthorn managed to hit 4 appropriate (and 1 inappropriate - see UVthread for more thanks) lists with a total of 32 cards. 1975 Topps: a pair that included Joe Coleman who was quite a solid starter for a long time but was mostly done by 31 - he started as an 18 year old for the Senators. 1976 Topps: 10 cards including an AL victory leaders card showing Jim Palmer sandwiched by Catfish and Vida. If only Catfish had still been with the A=E2=99s instead of the Yankees then maybe the A=E2=99s would have made it FOUR in a row instead of three (yes, I am greedy!) 1978 Topps: 10 cards including Kurt Bevacqua. I watched him play many gameswith the Padres during my college years in San Diego and he was well-lovedby Padre fans. 1979 Topps: 10 cards including The Penguin. I have never been a Dodger fan but loved watching Cey play. Thanks so much for the great cards Greg! Nick and Jerry Barnes were the only guys I hadn't already met, so it's nice to add you guys to my list of OBCers that I've met. Mike Rich handed me a '71 high number and two more from '73. Looks like everyone had the same idea and, in fact, since I only needed 25 cards to finish the set it was a high priority and I do appreciate the help, thanks guys, I'm down to 7 cards to finish the '73 set now. Ron Perry changed things up by handing me three from 1959 Topps, thanks Ron, it was great visiting with the FOOT guys, sorry Mark Talbot couldn't make it this time. I feel good about the progress I made on the '73 set, but my main goal was to get close to finishing the 1965 Topps set with 7 more to go. I spent some time talking with Wes Shepard and after he took a little look at my want list the next thing I know, there he is handing me a '65 Pete Rose card. Amazing! Thanks Wes, it was great seeing you and Nolan again. I did manage to pick up Mays and Maris and now I'm at four to go. Since I had to head back home early Saturday afternoon I didn't get much time to visit with Jimi, Tom or Ed, or make it over to Sam's house for the post show gathering. I got to talk to Ken for a bit, and he even got to meet the boys, my wife, and my niece who was visiting. What a great surprise (and savings on postage for KEN)from KEN and he even threw in some outstanding vintage in the form of a '58T #5 Willie Mays, nosebleed 1960 #521 Mike Lee (in some seriously awesome shape), and a '62T #138 Babe Ruth "The Famous Slugger", which I thought at first was a GT, but I'm thinking regular given how sharp the chalk lines are, but boy, of the green tints it has to be one of the tougest!
