One of them (Julio Gotay) played for the Seattle Rainiers in 1965/66. I went into the Army in June of 1965, but I do remember seeing him play a couple of times before I went in. Another (Gino Cimoli) also had some PCL experience having played for Spokane in 1965. I wonder how many players in the Post series had PCL experience. I guess I'll have to crunch the numbers one of these days. Thanks Jay for giving me the cards and a project! Next up was Mark Talbot who also favors me with two 1963 Posts (Vic Power and Jim Kaat). Neither of these played in the PCL, but Mark didn't stop there. He also sent three hits to my 19(44) collection: #44 Czechoslovakia (Parade Flags of the World), #44 Ireland (1963 Topps Flags of the World), and a #44 Muddigger (1955 Topps Rails and Sails). Jay Tysver is part of an excellent rookie class and one of his early at bats has slugged my main want list with 4 hits to 1963 Topps! Not easy to hit my dwindling listanymore, but Jay was not intimidated! Thanks for the booming hits, Jay!

TJ sent a eruptive hit to both my 61 and 63 sets . The 61 was of course a high number since that set is infamous for everyone's want list having the same cards on it ! Nice veteran, all-star performance TJ! Boom!

Next up is Joel Freedman whose puffy envelope contained my all time favorite QB, whose career was in the shiny blast zone, but a big Thanks to Joel for a blowing over a stack of Dan Marino cards!

The N54 topper was my second favoriteQB, (who was in first for many years until Marino came along) This card is older than I am so I can mention the 1957 Topps FB Johnny Unitas RC is now in the house. Johnny was one tough QB, not afraid of a volcano, but he'll be protected along with some of my other gems in a safe place!

Getting three cards isn't that unusual in the OBC world, however getting any 1963 Fleer football cards is. I had one 63F type card forever and finally listed the set about 15 years ago on my wantlist. I haven't actively tried to buy cards in the set. I guess I figured I would just run across several which would get me going after the rest of the cards in the set. The 1963 Fleers must not have been too popular. Fleer dropped out of the individual card business after that - until 1981. In 15 years of the set being on my list I had picked up exactly 16 more cards. OBCers Mead, Rice, and Zentkovich sent me 4 of those 16. Now with Peter's envelope from yesterday I am up to 20 cards in total. I guess this will be a challenging set. From: David Fallen This weekend was the Washington State Sports Collectors Association semi-annual card show. As (almost) usual, Brian Lindholme made the long trek from Ridgfield to Arlington WA Friday. He got here too late for our traditional Thai dinned, but the next morning we met up with Rick Lyons at the local I-Hop for our traditional pre-show breakfast. There, we swapped a few cards as is the OBC tradition and then off to the card show in Shoreline. The show was amazing as the two first tables I hit I picked up a rare hit to my 1947 Centennial Flour Seattle Rainiers set and two hits for my Seattle Popcorns. (I confess, I know which tables to hit first). The rest of the show was just gravy, and among other things I picked my first T205 minor league card (Nee Newark), and a 1924 Seattle Zeenut (Eldred). I also picked up a few hits for my 44 collection, including a 1917 Collins-McCarthy (E135) #44 Larry Doyle, a 1930s Indian Gum (Billy Bowlegs), an early '40s War Gum #44 "Midway Island Defies the Japs", and a 6" statue of Hank Aaron (44 on the jersey). Brian came up with 4 tickets to the Mariners/Indians game, so after the card show Brian, Rick, and I stopped at the Thai restaurant for a make-up meal (having missed Friday night), and then the three of us and my wife (Jan) headed off to Safeco field and watched Seattle come in a close second to Cleveland. Brian had scored FANTASTIC seats 17 rows behind home plate. Pre-game I introduced Rick and Brian to the joys of a 1/2 lb. foot-long kielbasa. I'm still dreaming of the next time I can go get one! Sunday morning, Rick and Brian headed back to the show for a second helping. I'm getting too old to keep up with these young kids, so I stayed home which is how I got the time to hit the OBC servers first with this show report. And a huge thank you to the generous Rick and Brian for the great cards. It amazes me that people can still hit my PCL want lists! Rick came up with several hits to the 1952 and 1953 Mothers Cookie sets and Brian came up with a Seattle Popcorn card (Bobby Balcena) and a 1960 Union Oil Seattle Rainiers card (Joe Taylor). I well remember watching both of those players as a kid - they were two of my favorites. From: familytoad@comcast.net lately, but I am just about to do that for a change .
I'm off again tomorrow for a trio of hotel nights but before I go, I need to thank 3 fine OBC Friends.

I will ramble later on the awesome weekend I had with Dave Fallen and Rick Lyons, as well as document the cards that came my way...but for the time being I just want to thank them for being such good friends and for sharing the time with me. The best part of OBC still isn't cardboard, it's human :-)

While I was away, The mail brought cardboardfrom Joe Denning, who I also hope to meet with some day, as I wish for allof you!
Joe mailed a nice 4 pack of hits to both 1967 and 1972 (which means higher numbers since that's what remains)
Thank you Joe!

I ain't kidding,
OBC Forever,
Brian
