OBC World, Rick Johnson uses ricktopps for his screen name, and its easy to see why after the last couple times he's mailed something my way. This time was a real unexpected treat and I'm greatly thankful! Rick demolished my Topps WL with 40 cards. In my database, I showed I needed 1140 cards for my 53 topps to 1980 topps run...it's an even 1100 now! 11 cards from 1954 leaves just 59 more in that set. 4 cards from 1956 leaves just 60 more in that set. 2 cards from 1962 leaves just 12 more in that set. 3 cards from 1958 leaves just 79 more in that set. 11 cards from 1957 leaves just 120 more in that set. 9 cards from 1961 leaves just 120 more in that set. Finally, MAC WUBBEN sends over a classic nine pack. Judging by the envelope, it looks like Mac either let the neighborhood Rotweiller chew on the envelope before he mailed it, or he slammed the envelope in the car door before he sent it out. In either case, the envelope made it to the mailbox. Mac sends over two hits to my 1970 OPC, 2 hits to my 1969 OPC, 3 hits to the 1968 OPC, a single hit to the 1966 OPC, and a hit to my 1935 Goudey set. One interesting thing (well, I thought it was interesting) about the Ray Sadecki card was that it's one of Topps' admittedly poor airbrushing jobs, so Ray's wearing a weird-looking St. Louis Cardinals cap. This airbrushing seemed to be unnecessary, because Ray had previously spent 1960 through 1966 as a member of the Cardinals, and Topps certainly had many pictures of him. I don't think he looks much older in his 1975 card than he did as a youngster. Randy sent them as a bit of a giveback for the Sports Cards Images DVD I sent him earlier this year, and also Marshall West sent me $15 through PayPal. While both gestures are appreciated (particularly by my wife, who applied the $15 towards a battery replacement for her laptop computer!), they're not necessary. The DVD is free for the asking to anyone who wants a copy, as I'm hoping the collection will survive and pass on to others for their enjoyment. But both of these guys (and many others) make it a continuing joy of being in OBC, which for me is now approaching twenty years. ================= Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2011 20:33:14 -0000 To: OBC-Thanks@yahoogroups.com From: "ricktopps" Subject: Thanks to Bill Malson and Richard Dingman I received two awesome packages this past week.
