These cards are like most of the rest - they have been handled and played with a bit - I think one even spent a bunch of time in a back pocket - and I can almost read the history in the chips and wrinkles like a fortune teller reads tea leaves... Thanks Bob for the great cards! While I am here - I realize that I neglected to thank JOHN STAMPER for the great cards he brought along to our meeting with Rob Gioia last month. The dinner and time was a delight - and these cards are many and varied. I am always impressed when anyone takes the time to look at the huge Mungo list I have - well John went in and found me three great cards - a 49 M&P of Eddie Joost, 60T of early Wynn and a new issue Johnny Mize - really fun to get and of course - gaze at. Add to that a Famous Feats (72 F) of Iron man McGinnity and TWO hits to the 71 set - to take the WANT list down to 3 - of course two are Clemente and Blue - but so close... OBC WOF project deserve thanks... Frequent contributor Ed Schott has sent a couple of 9-packs my way chock full of 60's goodies. It's very ironic that Ed is sending ME cards from the Orioles, don'tcha think? All sorts of initials, artwork and other goodies adorn these examples of what used to be done with cards. My favorite is a 1965 Sam Bowens that appears ot have more stats on the front of the card than on the back! And many of those were erased and written over. I do that all the time when I play golf so it's OK :-) Thanks for the cool cards Ed! Bob Reed also sends another great grouping of cards from his childhood. Highlights include a 1968 John Donaldson with fine blue glasses and muttonchops and a 1969 Ed Stroud with the price tag written right on the card (50 cents)! Also included is a card which will be enshrined into the WOF HOF: a 1969 Sal Bando who hass been transformed into some sort of evil alien that is apparently 10,000 years old! A classic indeed! A 1939 Playball hi #. While I have almost 100 cards in the set, this is probably the nicest one I have so far. As has been posted by others, Ron Perry and I went to Chicagofor a show 10 days ago. Thanks to Ron for arranging a free hotel room. We saw George Vrechek, who handed me another 1950 Bowman BB variation, John Leroux was accompanied by a real nice looking lady, who I later found out was his wife. Lucky guy. John handed me an envelope with some FB cards, including 1 that would have been a type card for me, but ended up going straight to Andy Cook, who is looking for this this set. We also caught up withGary Mandell and we had lunch together. At a recent Redford show, Mark Talbot handed me a pair of 1954 Topps Scoops(while mainly non-sport set, there are a few sports represented. I am doing a few of these mixed sets, including 1956 Gum Adventure.) Andy Cook sent me a special 4 pack of 1957 Gil's Drive In Seattle Popcorn, a type card for me. A 1933 OPC Hockey Series A, which I now have over 1/3 of the first OPC set. A 1922 E-121 set of 120 American Caramel and a 1956 Topps BB #5 Ted Williams, for my quest to get all 25? variations of the card. Separately, Andy sold me a chunk of some E sets, including the E121 series of 80 & series of 120 & E220. I now have almost have of the series 120 set. I beleive Bama also sent me a pair of the 1954 Topps Scoops. Bill Ashton sent mean eclectic package of a Star Trek figurine of Dr. McCoy and a Star Trek tie of Capt. Kirk. I had planned on starting a Star Trek collection, but mybrother in law, snitched these from me. I understand he wore the Kirk tieto work on a non-court day, already. Peter Mead sent me a 62 Jell-o. At another Redford show, Mike Mroz handed me some miscuts and a card of my HOMer, Willie Horton. Mark Talbot, upgraded a 62 Topps BB and a few 62 Post BB. He also gave me a near set of a UV FB issue. Ron Perry passed along a few 62 Topps BB. Rick Johnson picked up a stack of Glendales and swapped me 1 to get us each a step closer. Amazing. Swapping Glendales, what a group! At my Golden Oldie 50th B-day gathering, Mike Mroz handed me a Kentucky Derby glass (1 of these days, I will add this list to my lists). Mark Talbot, more 54 Topps Scoops, and some miscuts and a buddy Rocky, who many FOOT have met, an autographed copy of Al Kaline's new book, "6". Bob Reed, aBazooka and Bob Neill, a 1962 Topps BB Buck on a Negro League stamped envelope and a 1935 Wheaties Mancuso. Other than UV hits, I think this catchesup all the thanks. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn’t, but if he were sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn’t have to; but if he didn’t want to he was sane and had to.
