Dan Angland sends a TCP of 3 62 Topps hits including former Red Johnny Temple. I think one of them is a Greenie. Bob Donaldson sends 2 59 hits that are so sharp I could shave with them. Imay have to Tipton them up some so they will fit in with my set. Finally my "neighbor" up the street, Tom Housley sends me 3 waiver wire hits including 2 1972 Kellogg's and a 1973 Kellogg's. Much appreciated Bob! I've read both of Brosnan's books (more than once), and highly recommend reading them to anyone collecting sets from the 50's/60's. Jim mentions many players he played for and against while pitching for the Cubs, Cardinals and Reds. I actually like Brosnan's books (diaries) now better than Jim Bouton's "Ball Four" since Brosnan played in the NL against the Giants and Braves, my 2 favorite teams (he talks about pitching against Mays and Aaron). Also, the 1962 Topps set is now one of my favorites because it includes many of the players that Brosnan talks about in his books and of course the Giants won the pennant in 62 :) And thanks for including Brosnan's ex-teammate's Joey Jay and Redbird Rippers Lindy McDaniel and Larry Jackson in the 4 pack! PS: The Reds won the 1961 pennant which Jim writes a whole book about, which is another good reason to collect the 62T set! Several factors combined to cause me to finally come back and update. First, despite being quite off the radar for some time, every few weeks I wouldstill get a package of cards from people who were thoughtful and generous.Amazing. Second, the membership poll and the attempts to reach me reminded me again of what a great group of guys and gals this is. Third, the stacks of cards that I needed to say "thanks" for FELL OFF the desk and some went behind the computer. Picking them up I had some time to think, "I REALLY need to post thanks about these." Fourth, I was at Wal-Mart today and saw this year's Topps cards, and bought my first pack of the new year. I came home and started updating my lists. That was a few days ago, and they're still not quite up to date. I remember some great photos that got shared as well, wish I could have made it to one of those. It's also nice to get a little "noise" from Mike Hair, hope all is well in the cycling business and that you and yours are well. For some reason I think of "Trips" when I reflect on the Vegas outings - has anyone heard from Rick Ellison lately? I tried to keep intouch with him by sending birthday cards (when I was doing that sort of thing) but still never heard back from him. Just wondering asI always enjoyed Rick's point of view on things.
