Bob Neill sends over another 4 1970 Tyco Super Balls my way including Lou Brock.
Of course all 4 were NL players as I need 35 AL and am now down to 83
NL.  Along for the ride was a 1954 Red Man Robin Roberts (from Michgan State).
My goal is to complete a master set of 4 Red Man sets, with and without
tabs and with both expiration dates on each.   I currently have a base set
of each and 1954 is my closest to finishing a 2nd set as this brings meto
within 12 of having the set with both expiration dates on back.  Rounding
out the package was a 1960 Lake to Lake Burdette, to get me down to 10 on
that set.  Great nibbles to 3 sets.

My first thank you is just a couple of days late, but as they say -- better

Thanks go out to Mac Wubben for a pair of those little cards that we all know
and love -- 1951 Bowmans! For some odd reason, I have a soft spot for the
old Bowman cards. Perhaps because they have the TRUE Mickey Mantle rookie,
the great artwork, heck -- I honestly really do not know why. Thank youfor
thinking of me Mac! They are very much appreciated!

Next up, I would like to thank Mike Rumley-Wells. Mike counter fires my contribution
to his healing power of cardboard onslaught orchestrated by us a
couple of weeks ago. Mike included a very nice card thanking me for my contributions.
Please Mike, don't worry about finding any prewar cards for me.
I definitely was not expecting any return fire to begin with, and a prewar
card I most certainly do not deserve. Thank you for the kind thought however.
Prewar cards are most certainly not expected but of course they are always
appreciated. Along with the thank you card was an even NICER 1954 Bowman
card. This card is so sharp that I am going to have to worry about papercuts!
This is no exaggeration either. Mike -- if this is a card that you got
rid of because you found an upgrade, I would like to know how it is humanly
possible to find a card in better condition then this unless it is autographed.

All of my cards, once again, are jumbled up and in helter-skelter order. I
seriously need to get them in order and update my want list. If you are worried
about sending me a card that I might are the have, keep in mind thatI
probably have the easiest want list to hit in our community! This most definitely
doesn't persuade me to stop collecting by any means. Please do not
get me wrong: this is in no way intended as a hint for anybody to send meanything.

The kindness of OBC never ceases to amaze me. You are the family that I have
never met but am proud to be a part of. As for the not meeting part -- the
next time that the national comes to an area close enough for me to attend
I definitely plan on getting to know a lot of you personally. I honestly think
that we would do anything for each other -- even donate and organ, God
forbid anything like that would happen to any of us. Speaking of -- are any
of you type O- blood? LOL just kidding, just kidding.

An amazing day at the mailbox on Tuesday.  The generosity of OBC continues to
floor me!

RANDY WELK sends over a handful of hits from the 62, 67 (growing on my "all-time
favorite set" list), and 69.  All look great!

RAY LUURS mistakenly instructed me to "accept" the seven mid-numbers from 1960
until better ones came along.  While I certainly appreciate them, I don't
plan on upgrading them any time soon--these are perfect.

KEN PILLION added some great '65s (including two Milwaukee Braves) to a waiver
claim mentioned elsewhere.  Way too nice for my binders, but I'll keep them
until I can downgrade them at a later date!  :)

Last but certainly not least, MIKE RUMLEY-WELLS had emailed me to ask if anybody
who played in Eau Claire appeared in the 54 Bowman set.  "Of course,"says
I.  "Jim Delsing, Andy Pafko, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle,
Ed Mathews, and Duke Snider."  In his best Carol Kane from The Princess Bride
voice, he screamed "LIAR", pointing a finger in my direction.  Perhaps
this bad liar trait is why people always invite me to poker games.  Anyway,
Mike sent along the first two and tossed in some 69s, including highs, for
good measure.

Finally, from 1972: a card showing Topps' Minor League Player of the Year Award.
There are two trophies shown, which resemble both of Topps' All-Star Rookie
designs, the one with the top hat and the other one shaped like a cup.

Fleer World Series set with the 1909 Pirates-Tigers card. Its ALWAYS great to
finish a set!!

Randy Welk - Randy hits Glasgow with what is now probably the oldest card in
collection - an 1889 Duke Cigarettes "Coins Of The World" featuring a Scottish
"Thistle Mark" of 1603. Randy says that since he had trouble finding anything
else on my list, he decided that this qualifies as a baseball card. Works for

There was also a box full of unmentionables from Kent Goto, which I'll talk
about in another place.

Once again, a number of packages arrived in the mailbox.  I waited until Saturday

And finally, DON RICE absolutely amazes me with a HOF pack of 27 cards.  Every

record breakers of Brock, Rose, Ryan, Brooksie.  Regular cards of McCovey,
Brett, Palmer, Brock, Fisk, Winfield, Jackson, Carew, Stargell, and Schmidt

Ray Luurs surprises me with a couple `62 Jello cards with Whitey Ford and my

(Tom Brewer & Gus Bell).  I just love these classic vintage sets

Kevin Martens remembers that the 55 year milestone is fast approaching by slipping

Mike Rich met up with me this past Saturday to catch one of the last TIGER b
all games but before we made it downtown we stopped at a card shop and had
some dinner.  Mike picked up a lot of brutal cards and I had pulleda
few (6) assorted `68 Topps and `69 OPC Hockey cards that got thrown intothe
deal so I suppose since Mike paid they come from Mike.  Those are
then added to the short stack from Mike which included (4) Norm Cash items
with an =E2=9Coff-cut=E2=9D `65 Topps, a `69 Milton Bradley, an `01Topps
Archives and a very cool b&w photo of Norm standing in the batter=E2=99s
box at TIGER Stadium, vintage 1974 =E2=93 COOL!!!  This would
be enough but Mike had more a very nice T-218 card of Knock-out Brown with
a Tolstoi Back for my Master set to pass my way =E2=93 WOW!!! Add
all that to my National haul from Chandy=E2=99s table of (14) Hostess
panels for a buck a piece and it adds up to a nice size stack of stuff to
go with a TIGER victory in 13 innings on a great autumn evening =E2=93Thanks

Don Rice goes the RAOK route with a =E2=9Chodge-podge=E2=9D of vintage
stuff with a `50 Bowman Footb all card (Gilmer), a `51 Topps Magic Photo Footb
all (Putich), `64 York Hockey card (Kelly), a `77 Topps Hockey GlossySET

New guy Nick Covello hits some second sets of the 70=92s with 5 cards include
a knock out blow to the 1975 set with Mike Tyson.  Thanks Nick and welcome

Randy Welk mixed some newer stuff along with 5 hits to the 1975 and 1976 second
sets.  Mike =93the human rain delay=94 Hargrove was included.  Thanks Randy!

Jim Wiehe sends a signed card for my son=92s autograph collection in exchange

Subject: Great start to the Week

Not only did the Reds clinch the central yesterday I also received 2 great envelpes.
First up were 5 hits to my 68 Topps set from John Storman.  Included
were 5 high numbers.

Next up was another Fitak attack.  This time Linda included a 59, 2 62s, a 63,
and a 64 of Don Zimmer.  Not to mention the normal assortment of great odd
ball cards.

Thanks (painfully overdue) to RANDY GRIFFIN, who hit me with a TCP, one
'59, one '61, and one '62! Included was a fine 59 rookie card of John
Romonosky.  Thanks, Randy!  I'll see if I can return some damage.

Then Linda included me in her recent round of generosity.  I make no
secret of loving the patented Fitak attaks.  Linda sent a 59, two 63s
(love that set!), a 64 and a mid-hi 71.  Sweet!  Plus, Linda included
the following of various British tea inserts, Italian and Spanish cards:
Neil Armstrong, Beavers, Galactica en espanol, "Rocky" Lane,
Mets and Dodgers regional, and Leonard da Vinci. Gotta tell you, as a
geeky Battlestar Galactica fan, I especially enjoyed the '78 Battlestar
Galactica card distributed in Spain.
Linda, as always, your envelopes bring a smile to my face and chuckle to
my card-loving heart.  I'm tempted to try to complete the 10-card
Inventors set! (Da Vinci down, 9 to go).  Thanks so much!

LINDA FITAK sends over a classic package including a hit to my 50 bowman set,
a 75 mini of Killebrew, some uv cards, 4 additions to my train card collection,
and a card that is easily my oldest card in teh collection, an 1886Mae
Powers.  Thank you Linda!

Our own FRANK THOMAS also sent a letter out.  Frank has had a rough summer,as
he has been dealing with a pinched nerve in his leg.  He mentions that he
was not able to golf nearly as much as in years past, and that he is looking
forward to the 2011 release of cards in November.
