I will be leaving my position at Hoover Dam at the end of the month and semi-retire now. Looking forward to some extra time that I never had before. Not exactly the way I planned it, but hopefully will work out for the best. The day was made so much more special by the following OBC events. First was a trip to the PO Box over at Nellis AFB, something I rarely do in the middle of the week, usually save it for my day off. But glad I did. There was a package waiting for me. Yep, Mark Talbot's extreme thoughtfulness and precise timing. I know he belongs to FOOT but there must be a Michigan Mafia involved as well. That can be the only explanation for being able to "lean on" USPS to get packages and envelopes to arrive on specific days. Mark, the homemade card with the well-wishes would have been more than enough. But to include a 1999 Wheaties 75th Commemorative miniature encased Wheaties box with Tiger on the front and a Gold signature was above and beyond the call of duty. Made even more relevant by the past weekend Masters where Tiger and Phil put on a dazzling display and a match to be remembered. They almost caught the leaders but for a late lapse. But for 16 holes it was amazing. Thanks so very much Mark. Another just as significant event came later at lunch where John Stamper and his terrific daughter Raleigh were in town for some canoeing in the Colorado River at Hoover Dam and downstream with a group of friends. Way cool! They, Rich Niessen and I targeted a Pizza Hut in the area to meet for lunch. What a terrific time we had talking about OBC and cards of course and our lives and families. Raleigh is a joy and John is definitely one proud papa. Oh yeah, almost forgot, a little cardboard flew around as well. John hit me with a couple of great Hank cards and if you didn't know it already, John is also a Hank fan so it was really special. Super to add a tough O'Connell ink card and a fabulous bat card, honestly my first one. Even though it's only a shaving from some hallowed timber, no doubt in my mind it was from the stick that hit 755 John provided stories of some cool and historical baseball events he and Raleigh have been to. My new and dear OBC friend Rich almost made me fall out of the booth with his birthday gift. Also a homemade item but a binder that contained TWELVE Topps 1951 Topps Bluebacks AND the ever elusive 1957 Topps "Lucky Penny Charm and Key Chain" card. Talk about being blown out of the water! Rich I can't thank you enough for this fabulous display of generosity. Been a long time since I've received such a great package and it will always be remembered my friend. The day was definitely a special event made more special by some great company and truly wonderful gifts. In the attached photo, l-r are John, Raleigh, Rich, yours truly. As it turns out, John & Raleigh make the trip a few times a year, so we expect to see much more of them and enjoy their company. Thanks are extended to:
Brian Betza for a hit and an upgrade to an unlisted set--the 1961 Topps football set.  Brian--I know you are waiting on the football box.  Hope to get it in the mail tomorrow.
Richard Dingman hits me with a 71 Topps upgrade of Clyde Wright and a 52 Topps as well. Many thanks!
George Vrechek was one of the first OBCers I exchanged cards with--maybe even before I became a member.  It is always a treat to see George and Susan's name on the return address and this envelope was no exception.  I can't remember the last time I received a hit to the 51 Blue Back set--but George erases a couple of St. Louis Cardinals right handed pitchers from the list--Red Munger and Gerald Staley.  A 52 Bowman Murray Dickson is along for the ride.  Many thanks George.
And thank you all of OBC!!

Both Ron Santo and Santo In Action (one of four In Action cards) and Kid Pics of Bud Harrelson and Willie Horton (Horton was much cuter, at least in these pictures). Plus, the memorable Bernie Carbo.
