When Jack was with Seattle he met Doug Fister who was more than willing to donate his time to the numerous events that Christ First put on. I was able to spend some time with Doug, who lives out in So Cal. He is a great person and I am honored to know him. SO I am rooting for the Tigers and Fister. Perhaps I could be an honorary member, at least for the playoffs. Just a note on last season, I was rootingfor Freddie Sanchez and the Giants and they won it all. Well, it is finally that time of year. The OBC holiday card exchange. For those of you who are new, or have bad memories, the holiday exchange is when participants are randomly assigned the name of another participant to buy and mail a gift to the person they have been assigned to. On December 25th - Christmas for some, the middle Hanukkah (I think), the winter solstice or Yule for pagans (not sure if we have any pagans) or just a fun day to get a gift. Rules (the fine print) 1. Gifts should be in the $5-10 range. The best gifts are not usually the most expensive. Try to get creative. 2. Envelopes should be clearly marked "do not open to Dec 25" or "Do not open till Xmas". 3. Open your present on the morning of the 25th 4. Report your present and who gave it to you on the ramblings server How it works. 1. Reply directly to this email (please do not send a new message as it may miss my email filter), put with your name in the message, that will make it easier to track things. Or send an email to me with "OBC Xmas" in the subject. Please include your name just to make sure I don't mix up your email address. Please make sure "OBC Xmas" is in the subject line! That makes it easy to track. 2. Wait a few days for a message from me telling you who your victim is based on a patented semi-randomization technique involving paper, scissors and a hat. 3. Buy something nice, wrap it, mark it "do not open" till the 25th, and send it out. Happy Holidays! A great series to watch ...drama and excitement even if it wasn't always pretty. I had a feeling that the Texas pitchers wouldn't hold up. Seems they couldn't hit the corners...either a walk or a meatball so many times.

It was a great series! I was especially impressed by Chris Carpenter last night. Short rest, gets knocked around in the 1st inning then proceeds to shut the Rangers down for the next 5 innings. Awesome stuff! -----Original Message----- From: Mark Zentkovich To: obc-ramblings Sent: Sat, Oct 29, 2011 11:28 am Subject: [OBC-Ramblings] Re: Congratulations - St. Louis Cardinals. been wearing my 06 cards WS champs hat this week...did not expect to get this far this year, but of course it was great! especially nice to see some of the young guys like freese contribute since we saw their later development at AAA Memphis...gives us a little different connection than just watching MLB team on tv. As usual, in so many of our lives, the father/son connection increases/thrives when we connect with the game. My son is 20 now, and it was fun watching some of the games with him...his boss at work (he is supv at Taco Bell while working through college)gave him off almost every game. Quite a nice gesture for a braves fan.. Anyway...I had to watch some of the games via DVR due to work schedules...and game 6 my son could not hang, and went to bed in 8th inning...he sure missed a lot! He watched the entire game 7 with me..and as we shared a bro hug after watching the trophy being passed around..I thought that this proably is the last time we watch a cards championship while he lives at home.. Definitely a baseball month to cherish! sorry for the long ramble....markz http://home.earthlink.net/~mzentko/ ================= Date: Sat, 29 Oct 2011 16:03:37 -0400 (EDT) To: obcjohn@knology.net, OBC-Ramblings@yahoogroups.com From: brockhattox@cs.com Subject: Re: [OBC-Ramblings] My Cards done did it What is your prediction on what it will take to sign Pujols? She won the Connecticut punt pass and kick for the 6-7 age group and now gets to compete beforethe Patriots-Giants game on November 13th against 3 other contestants in New England. This is her second year in a row and last year she finished 3rd out of 4 so hopefully she can improve on that.
