Sorry for the duplication from the RAMBLINGS if you received it last night. Election time for your new OBCAC is here. I will serve as the election commissioner this year, accepting nominations from February 1 until February 14 for candidates for one (1) non-voting OBCAC Facilitator, seven (7) OBCAC voting members and one (1) alternate voting member. Members shall serve on the OBCAC for a one-year term, beginning March 1, 2017 until February 28, 2018. Please read the following instructions carefully. You must be nominated by a group member as self-nominations will not be accepted. It is required to have the potential nominee's permission before submitting his name for consideration. A member may be nominated for both the non-voting and voting positions on the ballot. Should any member be elected to both positions, he will only be able to serve in one capacity; the next highest vote getter will be considered elected for the position declined by the top vote getter. Any member of OBC for three (3) years or more is qualified to run for a position on the OBCAC. Inactive members are not allowed to be nominated nor serve on the OBCAC, but are eligible to nominate candidates and vote in the election. Please copy me at mholland28412@ec.rr.com on the following two emails: 1) the nomination email (which should include the permission to nominate the candidate) from an OBC member nominating a candidate for facilitator and/or voting member with OBC NOMINATION in the subject line. 2) the acceptance email from the nominee accepting the position on the ballot with OBC ACCEPTANCE in the subject line. Important: if the two emails do not satisfy the above requirements, they will not be considered, no exceptions. Once I have received both e-mails, I will contact both parties to confirm the candidate will be on the ballot by responding to the acceptance email. If I do not receive the acceptance email by February 14@ 2359, it will be understood the person is not interested in running for the position. Voting will begin on February 15 and run through February 28. I will email instructions on the 15th and if you have any questions about the elections, please email or call me. To date only 5 people have nominated one of their peers to serve on the committee. Please take the time to consider what you like and dislike about the group and nominate the people that you feel are best suited to continue the OBC tradition. If you decide to make a nomination, please ensure that I am in the loop in the confirmation process from the candidate. A confirmation is required to ensure that person wants to be added to the ballot. A summary of the rules & requirements for OBCAC members is in the note below. Feel free to ask any questions that may come up. If you have nominated someone but did not receive a confirmation email from me that they were added to the ballot, that person is probably not on the list. Please ask if you have questions. Mark Holland ================= To: "'obc-announcements@yahoogroups.com'" Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2018 00:02:04 -0500 Subject: OBCAC Voting Member Ballot From: "Mark Holland" The OBCAC nomination process is complete. Joe Isaac will be running unopposed for the facilitator position. Therefore you are not required to fill in a ballot for the facilitator role this year. We have 20 nominees for the OBCAC voting member position. Each OBC member should vote for their top 7 choices to serve on the OBCAC. Below are the rules from the OBC page. Let me know if you have any questions. * Election - From February 15 through the end of the month, it is the responsibility for each member of OBC to send in a ballot to the Commissioner listing their choices for seven voting members and one non-voting Facilitator. Inactive members are allowed to vote. The Commissioner will keep track of all ballots. * OBCAC Voting Member Election - The seven candidates with the highest number of votes in the election for OBCAC Voting Member will serve as OBC AC Voting members. The candidate with the next highest total will be an Alternate Voting Member, who will serve if there is a vacancy in the OBCAC. * OBCAC Facilitator Election - The member with the highest number of votes in the election for OBC AC Facilitator will serve as OBC AC * Election results - The Commissioner shall release the voting results (but not vote totals) to the general membership on March 1. Actual vote totals shall be available privately for 30 days after the election. Here is the voting member ballot (alphabetical order). Please acknowledge directly to this email. I will acknowledge that your vote has been received and registered. Good Luck to all!!!! Our ballot was missing one of our own. Based on this cyber attack we will delete all of the votes to this point since it is still the 15th and start over with the complete list. Seriously, It was my omission because Randy was clearly nominated & accepted. To be fair to Randy we will delete all votes to this point and ask everyone to vote again. Since I will be driving most of the day, it will be sort of challenging (and stupid and dangerous for that matter) to review theresults and send an email while driving on I-85 at the same time, so I will do my best to post the results of the election as soon as I possibly can. For the incoming OBCAC members, I will inform you on the procedure for signing up on Google Groups.
