Hey There! If your last name is Alcazar, Ashton, Austin, Billing, Carter, Codere, Coker, Cooper, Corvello, DeJong, Delia, Dillon, Earle, Elwell, Glickman, Goetsch, Greenwood, Johnson, Kilbourn, Leroux, Lindholme, Luurs, Mack, Macrae, Mann, Miller, Moleta, Morgan, Mroz, Mura, Newman, Paris, Parker, Pike, Pillon, Rainsley, Reed, Saxton, Sinclair, Storman, Tripler, Wattigny, Wax, or Wubban you have NOT responded to the Annual Membership Poll and risk being placed on the inactive list. Please read below and respond. Thanks! Don January 4, 2016 Now that 2015 is in our rear view mirror and 2016 is here to stay, it's once again time for the annual OBC membership poll. This poll ensures that your membership remains activeand we have current active emails. We hope you will remain active in OBC, as well as encourage other prospective OBC members this coming year. In order to remain on the active roster, OBC rules require all active members to respond to this OBC Advisory Committee (OBCAC) poll. There are three options for your response. You may respond: * YES - Please keep me on the active roster of OBC * NO - I do not wish to be active; please place me on the inactive list * NO - I am leaving OBC; please remove me from the group I will keep this poll open for 2 weeks until January 18, 2016. This should afford enough time for all active members to respond. Members who do not respond will be given a notice prior to any dreaded “further action” being taken, so please respond to cut down the sometimes considerable follow-up efforts. It is not necessary for /inactive /members respond, but if you wish to do so it's always nice to hear from you (and it would be great if you decided to return to active duty). All active members... please RESPOND directly tome (Don Rice) by sending an email to dkrice@nycap.rr.com stating either: * YES * NO – On inactive list, or * NO – Remove Please include your “real” name in the email to help me figure out who has responded. Many thanks for keeping OBC alive and well. If you've ever used the Who Collects What link & selected football, basketball or hockey, you'd get a list of members who also collect them. Up until now, though, there was no way to search for specific years, as is the case with the baseball lists; you would just have to to a member's overall list and hunt. Wayne Delia has just finished updating football, basketball & hockey so that they too can be searched by individual set. That means if I have some 1966 Philadelphia FB cards & I want to send out some RAOK, I can easily search for who's collecting that specific set. However, for this to work properly, those of you who collect the non-baseball sports sets have to take the next step - that is, go to your OBC profile & update your collecting preferences. You'll find check boxes for you to indicate which sets you collect. Until you do so, you'll be lumped into the general "other football', "other basketball", and "other hockey" categories, so be sure to update your profiles. So, take a look at the new & Improved Who Collects What page, then go & update your profile, which takes almost no time at all. If you see anything that needs to be fixed, added (sets), etc you can either let me know or contact Wayne directly. From what I saw, the Topps hockey sets still need to be added, but by the time you read this they may already be up.Your feedback on how this all works is also welcomed. Non-sports cards may prove to be difficult to individualize by year & set since there are so many sets, so we may have to just keep that the way it is. Congratulations and HUGE thanks to Wayne for making this possible!.Wayne gets an official "Attaboy!" and a virtual pat on the back! We lost a member of our OBC family in late October. Scott Earle aka "The Detroit Squirrel", as he called himself, died October 27th. at the young age of 45. Scott first became an OBC member in March 2004. He left the group in 2006 but re-joined in May 2013. Here is the link to his on-line obituary. http://www.willandschwarzkoff.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=3364435&fh_id=11925 We always say we are more than a bunch of people who have a common hobby; we're more like a family of brothers (and sometimes sisters), bonded through our love of cardboard but also by the friendships that we create with each other. We've lost a brother, and a friend. We'll miss you, Squirrel. R.I.P. I will serve as the election commissioner this year, accepting nominations from February 1 until February 14 for candidates for one (1) non-voting OBCAC Facilitator, seven (7) OBCAC voting members and one (1) alternate voting member. Members shall serve on the OBCAC for a one-year term, beginning March 1, 2016 until February 28, 2017. You must be nominated by a group member as self-nominations will not be accepted. It is required to have the potential nominee's permission before submitting his name for consideration. A member may be nominated for both the non-voting and voting positions on the ballot. Should any member be elected to both positions, he will only be able to serve in one capacity; the next highest vote getter will be considered elected for the position declined by the top vote getter. Any member of OBC for three (3) years or more is qualified to run for a position on the OBCAC. Inactive members are not allowed to be nominated nor serve on the OBCAC, but are eligible to nominate candidates and vote in the election. Please copy me at jwi62@hotmail.com on the following emails: the nomination email (which should include the permission to nominate the candidate) from an OBC member nominating a candidate for facilitator and/or voting member with OBC NOMINATION in the subject line. 2) the acceptance email from the nominee accepting the position on the ballot with OBC ACCEPTANCE in the subject line. I have received both e-mails, I will contact both parties to confirm the candidate will be on the ballot. If I do not receive the acceptance email by February 14, it will be understood the person is not interested in running for the position. will begin on February 15 and run through February 28. I will email instructions on the 15th and if you have any questions about the elections, please email or call me. Joe Isaac
