================= Date: Tue, 5 Feb 2008 14:30:48 -0800 (PST) To: OBC-Announcements@yahoogroups.com From: Patrick Wattigny Subject: OBCAC Nominations for 2008-2009 Happy Mardi Gras to you all! I will be, as the election commissioner this year, accepting nominations from tonight, February 5 until Sunday, February 17 at 23:59 PST for candidates for a non-voting OBCAC Facilitator and for seven (7) OBCAC voting members. Members shall serve on OBCAC for a one-year term, beginning February 29, 2008 until February 28, 2009. Send any nominations to me here at seventytwoP@hotmail.com (preferable) or at wattignyp@yahoo.com. You must be nominated by a group member, as self-nominations will not be accepted. It is required to have the potential nominee's permission before submitting his/her name for consideration. A member may be nominated for both the voting and non-voting positions on the ballot. Should any member be elected to both positions, he/she will only be able to serve in one capacity; the next highest vote getter will then be considered elected for the postion declined by the top vote getter. Any member of OBC for three (3) years or more is considered to be qualified to run for a position on OBCAC. Please send me two e-mails if you will: one from an OBC member nominating a candidate (again, only after receiving permission to nominate that candidate), and a second e-mail from the nominee accepting the position on the ballot. Please make sure to indicate in your e-mails if the candidate is being nominated for a voting or non-voting position. E-mails indicating nomination or acceptance should be sent to me at either of the above addresses, and please include OBC NOMINATION or OBC ACCEPTANCE in the subject line. Once I have received an e-mail from both sides, I will contact both parties indicating that their candidate will be on the ballot. If I don't hear from both sides, I will assume that the person is not interested in running for the office. Inactive members are eligible to both nominate candidates and to vote in the election. Any member, active or not, will be eligible to vote if they have responded to Geordie Calvert's latest membership poll. Thanks for reading, now I'll get the chimney ready, and if any of you are good enough to send the e-mail in Latin on a postcard, why I'll take you to the Sistine Chapel to count the votes with me! Best to you all! Father Pat Wattigny Never miss a thing. In all that time, I've probably used this server a couple dozen times, most of which were John Ball or Rick Redpath auction information. A couple months ago, I decided that I'd take a break for a while and entrust the group's direction with someone else. (Just to be sure, I'm taking this opportunity to use this server as an obvious 'abuse of power' ) It has truly been an honor serving all of you and I hope that (while you can't please everybody all of the time) most of you were happy with the decisions I helped make. (As one of the top vote getters every year, I am really humbled that so many of you respected me in that capacity). Therefore, I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be accepting any nominations to run for another term... at least this year anyway. Thanks to all of you who have already thought to nominate me again (which helped prompt me to type this up). Like I mentioned before, the decision was made a while ago and has nothing to do with the second part of my announcement, as I wanted to concentrate more on getting stuff done around the house that didn't necessarily pertain to cards. I guess I'm going to have to get a lot of stuff done around the house regardless, since Stacey informed me last week that we're going to become parents sometime around October! Everyone is very excited around here, including all the grandparents to be. I'm looking forward to the challenge of fatherhood. More details to arrive over the coming months as they become available ;-) TAYL, Ken M Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music.
