Subject: OBCAC Election Results
It's the beginning of a new month, and the end of our OBC election season.
We had an election here in Chicago on Tuesday. If you know anything about
Chicago politics, you know that some dead folks vote, and some living folks
vote more than once. With all of those advantages, a record setting low 32% of
registered voters showed up at the polls.
I am proud to say that we blew that mark out of the water, and significantly
surpassed last year's lofty turnout. A stunning 108 voters, or over 81% of
those eligible took the time to vote in our election this year. Thank you to
everyone who participated.
From the first day votes started rolling in, this was a very close election.
The results were truly up in the air until the votes cast on the final day
were counted. It is a testament to the quality of candidates that ran this
year. Congratulations to everyone who shows their support of OBC, not only in
their card swapping actions, but in volunteering their precious time towards
making this a better group. We all benefit from their efforts.
Finally, before I announce the results, I would like to pay special tribute
to Geno Wagner. Geno, your time and effort to make this a better group are
well documented. But more importantly, your service and dedication to our
country are appreciated more than you know. Wherever your travels and duties
take you in the coming months, on behalf of all of OBC, I would like to say
thank you, be safe, and return home soon.
Now, on to the results.
The OBCAC Nonvoting Facilitator for 2007-08 will be Geordie Calvert.
Geordie sneaked by with the victory, running unopposed.
The OBC Advisory Committee for 2007-08 will be (alphabetically):
Andy Cook
Wayne Delia
Spike Glidden
Ken Morganti
Mike Rich
Steve Rittenberg
Mark Talbot
The alternate, should one of the above be unable or unwilling to serve out
his term, will be Larry Gersbach.
Gary Mandell
OBC Election Commissioner

This may be the 4th time you get this, but it seems Yahoo had some problems
yesterday, and I wanted to make sure it got out.
