At long last, I've started listing lots on eBay for the John Ball auction. Fittingly, although quite by accident, the first lot I listed has an apropriate scan. Happy bidding! Ken M - eBay ID = ken_m PS - Also somewhat ironically, the auction starts on Father's Day weekend. This is a good time to remind everyone that in 1964, Jim Bunning no-hit the Mets on Father's Day - a game in which every pitch was witnessed by a then ten-year old John Ball. ================= To: Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 06:27:20 +0100 From: "geno.wagner" Subject: June Report OBCers -- The votes are in for June, so here's the report of what we had on our plate: 1) Accept Jimmy Parker's request to rejoin OBC. PASSED 7-0 If the appropriate guys would get Catfish up and running, I'd appreciate it - his email is in the CC block. Once he gets his list posted, start putting out the bait! 2) Put out a reminder about cleaning up wantlists. PASSED 7-0 Fellas, remember the rules about wantlists! When somebody clicks on your list, there should be no post-1980 cards on the page that comes up. You can link to them, but not have them on that page. I bet I could go through the wantlists and find about 20 of them that don't comply at the moment. Take a look at your own sometime to make sure you are playing by the rules! 3) A reminder to send timely thank yous. PASSED 6-1 You don't have to send a Morgantiesque email to the Thanks server the day you get a card, but just drop a note to the sender to let him know you received it - you can always get verbose when you have more time! 4) OBCAC commit to posting their wantlists on the 10/20th to set an example. PASSED 6-1 The wantlist server is specifically designed for this task. Once upon a time, we used to send out our wantlists via email (A-M on the 10th, N-Z on the 20th). Some guys still do it. The AC determined that it is a good habit to get into since it allows people to take a look at your list and see what's new. So on the 10th, the AC guys will send theirs out (except Mike Rich and myself, of course) - so why don't you join them! Last thing - thanks to Ken for an outstanding effort and donating so much time to John Ball's auction! Ken has always stepped up to the plate for people in this group and deserves a round of applause (or a round of beer next time you see him). If we had an OBC Hall of Fame, Ken would be in the initial cadre for sure - Thanks again, Ken! That's all we have for this month. Remember to throw any thoughts, concerns, etc out to the Ramblings server if you think the AC should consider something. Your OBCAC is: Bob Donaldson, Spike Glidden, John Harrell, Jim Hatch, Brian Lindholme, Ken Morganti, and Mike Rich Take Care, Geno ================= To: "Announcements \(OBC\)" Date: Thu, 30 Jun 2005 21:43:23 -0700 From: "Geordie Calvert" Subject: Semi-annual membership poll - please respond Hi everyone - it's that time again! Per the OBC Rules of Conduct (http://www.oldbaseball.com/obcroc.html), every six months a poll is taken, in whichall (including inactive) members must state their desire to remain on the membership rolls. Please reply with a simple yes or no. Any member that doesn't respond to this membership poll, again per the Rules of Conduct, will be removed from the rolls. I will conduct the poll for one month, with several reminders. I pledge todo my part to make sure you have full opportunity to remain in OBC. Afterone month all non-responding names will be forwarded to the AC for removalconsideration. Please don't let your name be one of them!
